Baptist Women Will Meet The Woman's Missionary Union of the Robeson Baptist Association will hold its seventy - ninth annual session on Sunday at 3 o'clock at the Green Springs Baptist Church. The theme for the meeting will be, "World Mission of Reconciliation Through Jesus Christ". Dr. John W. Hughston, director of the Greater Boston ministries, of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention will be speaking on the topic, "Entrusted with the Message of Reconciliation". He will also tell of the work of Southern Baptist in the Boston area. All women involved in Baptist Women, Baptist Young Women, Acteens, Girls in Action and Mission Friends in the churches of the Robeson Baptist Association and interested friends are urged to attend. In District Court Charge Reduced To Trespass, No Cake Walk, Warns Judge A 17-ycar-old Raeford man charged by police wilh laiceny was allowed to plead guilty to a reduced charge or trespassing Friday as visiting Judge Charles L. Guy warned the defendant his apparent sweet tooth may lead him into the penitentiary. Donald Butler, Rt. 2, Raeford, had been charged with the theft of two packages of doughnuts and two lemon pies from a bakery delivery outside tlie Raeford A&P store Jan. 31. Judge Guy announced he would not Find Butler guilty of larceny on the evidence presented, but told him "there is no doubt in my mind you went down there to do this". "I hate to see a larceny charge put on a young fellow, it'll follow you ail your life", Guy said. "I think sometimes young people do things to be smart so don't think you're getting away with this, you're not". "I've been told you're a good boy, but this is a jtood way to end up in the penitentiary ', Judge Guy warned Butler. Butler was handed a suspended six month term and fined S25 and costs. In other action, a 22-year-old man was found guilty after pleading not guilty to shoplifting a can of chocolate cake icing and two pairs of bedroom shoes from the A&P in December. Billy D. Locklear, Rt. 4, Red Springs, was given a suspended six month jail term and lined S50 and costs. Locklear was ordered to stay out of the A&P indefinitely. F.arl Oxendine, Box 74. Red Springs, was found not guilty of assault on a female and (he prosecuting witness was ordered to pay costs. Roger Lee Locklear, Rt. I, Red Springs, was found guilty ol assault on a female following trial and was handed a suspended 20 day term and fined S25 and costs. Gordon M. Treadwell, Jr., Rt. 2, Raeford. pleaded guilty to assault on a female and the result was a suspended lJ0 day term and S25 fine and costs. Three persons pleaded guilty to worthless check charges. They were: Norman McGregor, Raleigh $ 125 check to Lisenby Body Shop, 40 day term suspended upon restitution and payment of court costs: Billy G. Bease, 105 Lamont Street. SIS check to CTarks Gulf. 40 days suspended upon restitution and costs, $25 check to Clarks Gulf, 90 days suspended upon restitution and costs; and Jerry McNeill, Raeford, $20 check to Larry's Drive-in, 90 days suspended upon restitution and costs. One youth pleaded guilty to escape and two other Sandhills Youth Center inmates waived preliminary hearings on charges of felonious escape. Joe T. Mounce, 16, pleaded guilty to a March 21 break from the McCain center and was handed a 90 day term to begin at the expiration of his sentence now being served. George Walters, Jr., 16, and Phillip M. Ryne, 16, waived hearings on felonious escape and will face indictment by the Superior Court grand jury. Two defendants pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI)and a third pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked. Pleading guilty to drunken driving were Dock Morrisey, P.O. Box 501, Raeford, who was sentenced to 90 days suspended for one year, ordered to give up his license for one year, and fined SI00 and costs. A limited permit was issued. Breathalyzer result was listed as .15, according to records. Also Marvin L. Kelly, Fayetteville, who received six months suspended upon SI00 line and costs. Breathaly/er result was .16, according to records. Pleading guilty to driving while under revocation was Gene Marshall Deese, Rowland, who was handed six months suspended upon $200 and costs. He was ordered not to drive until properly licensed. Ella Sue Jacobs, Rt. 3, Red Springs, was found not guilty of assault by pointing a gun and the prosecuting witness was ordered to pay costs. Harvey L. Fairley, Rt. I, Raeford, was cleared of an assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill charge (ADWITK) after the state presented no evidence and a ruling of no probable cause was made. David Pagan, Glendale Drive, was found guilty following trial lor injury to personal property and was given six months suspended upon S55 restitution payment to the prosecuting witness and court costs. Neill R. Guin, Rt. I, pleaded guilty to non-support and a six month jail term was suspended on condition he make $20 weekly support payments. He was fined court costs. Cases not piosecutcd with leave were Thomas Lee Mims, Aberdeen, injury to personal property, and Fred L. Foster. Box 848, Raeford, two counts of worthless checks to Southeastern Housing. A&R Names New President William R. Formyduval of Fayetteville has been named new president of the Aberdeen and Rockfish Railroad. Formyduval assumed his new duties April 1. following the retirement of longtime chief Forrest Lockey. Formyduval, 38, served as A & R general agent in Fayetteville beginning in May, 1963 and was named executive vice-president in February. 1974. A native of Nakina in Columbus County, he graduated from Nakina High School and attended High Point College. After completing work on his degree, he served with the U.S. Army overseas, being discharged May 22, 1962. Formyduval coached at Waccamaw High School in Ash in Brunswick J.H.
