Eastern Star Installs New Officers Installation of 1975 - 1976 officers of the Order of the Eastern Star, Raeford Chapter Number 226 was held Wednesday night, March 26, 1975 at S o'clock P.M. in the Masonic Temple. The Installing Officer was Lucille Bass, Grand Electa, Installing Marshall was Myrtle Goforth, District Deputy Grand Matron, Installing Chaplain John R. Helms and the Installing Organist was Carolyn Hardin. The officers installed were: Frances W. Greene, Worthy Matron; Hinton Public Affairs Hosfs Speaker The Public Affairs Department of the Raeford Womans Club met last Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Jack Pope with Miss Ellen Curric and Mrs. Alfred K. Leach as co-hostesses. Ronald Baker, education director for Sandhills Youth Center, was the guest speaker. A native of Chicago, Baker is a graduate of Texas A & M. He gave an informative presentation on the educational programs that are offered at the Youth Center. During die business session, each member was urged to support the money - making project sponsored by the RWC for the benefit of the Hoke "County Library Fund, an auction and bake sale at DeVane's Auction Barn April 12. Also Isabel Maxwell, Organist; Thelma McPhaul, Adah; Lillian Wood, Ruth; Hallie Giles, Esther; Ha/el Greene, Martha; Maggie Jane McBryde, Electa; and Lona Graham. Warder. The Sentinel, Ernest Duncan was not present, but will be installed later. Special music was given by Cecila Ropp accompanied at the piano by Susan Gill is. The Rev. John C. Ropp of the Raeford Presbyterian Church gave die dedicalorial prayer. A reception in the entertainment area followed the installation. Cookies, sandwiches, confections, cake, punch, and coffee were served to the members and guests. Shower Honors Miss Stocks Miss Eti/abedi Stocks of Tarboro, May bride - elect of Kenny Davis, was honored with a floating shower Saturday evening by Mrs. Bobby McBryde at her home on West Sixth Avenue. Guests were invited into the dining room where they were served punch, cake squares, open faced sandwiches, cheese straws, mints and nuts. The table was covered with a pink cloth overlaid with ivory lace and centered with a bride and pink burning candles. Ivy and daisies encircled the punch bowl. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Allie Scarboro, Mrs. Kay Collins, aunts of Mr. Davis, and Mrs. tola Powell. Mrs. William Davis, mother of the prospective bridegroom, was with Miss Slocks at the gift table in the den. Miss Stocks opened and displayed her gifts as guests arrived during the evening.
