Masked Men Rob Grocer
i Three men wearing stockings over
their faces robbed a Hoke County
storekeeper last week.
Joe Palmer told deputies that the
men, one carrying a sawed-off shotgun,
came in the Palmer's gas and grocery
store about 11 p.m. on April 8. They
threw him down behind the counter and
told him not to look at them. Palmer
said.
The men took his wallet with $50
and other personal possessions from his
pockets and got about $60 from the
cash register.
Dogs from the McCain prison unit
were brought to track the three men
through a housing development called
Wrightsboro to where they apparently
had left a vehicle.
Items such as the stockings and the
stock of the weapon were found on the
road.
Several suspects are being sought,
according to the report.

stolen April 8 from the Rt. I, Aberdeen,
yard of Virginia Baxley. They were
valued at S1S0.

freezer at Upchurch School cafeteria
was stolen early Friday morning.
According to the report, the burglar
alarm didn't ring because it was
attached to the freezer which wasn't
disturbed. The theft apparently took
place after the night watchman went off
duty, according to the report.
Five baby pigs and a hog were
reported stolen April 12 from a pen in
the Queenmore section. Leroy McDuffie
reported the theft about 9 ajn. and
again at 7:30 p.m. when deputies failed
to come to investigate, according to the
report.
Hoke deputies are investigating a
break-in at the library at Sandhills

was broken and the building entered
