Everyone plays this game. Buyers and sellers meet in the market place for a specific purpose. The SELLER aims toward distributing goods and services for a profit. You as the BUYER should aim at getting the best product for your need at the least cost. Each person is basically concerned with his own welfare. The success of the game is entirely dependent on the skill and determination of the players. Your shopping success depends on how well you know your needs and wants and your ability to locate and purchase the best product for your need rather than permitting the sale person selling you on the worth of a product. Successful shopping is the consumer "buying" rather than being "sold" on the goods and services. Wise buying is a family affair. It requires the family to work together in evaluating its shopping habits and eliminating those that waste cents or dollars. For example: if each member in a family of four wasted five cents a week, it would equal $10.50 per year (4 ? | x $.05 x 52). According to one study; (1) an- average of 27 cents of every dollar is wasted because consumers fail to get the "best buy" in products, and (2) unwise buying can waste from 10% on big ticket items (autos, appliances etc.) to as much as 85% on drugs and cosmetics. This means that with 55,000 expenditures, an average of $1,350 could be wasted through unwise buying practices. What are the opportunity costs of your family's buying habits? Use die score card to identify wasteful habits among all family members who shop. Then take steps to eliminate waste and to practice wise buying habits. Sharing for worthwhile purposes is another means of getting the best buys for your money. Sharing money should be managed just as carefully as buying. This means that each Individual or family must decide FOR WHAT and HOW MUCH of its money it will share, and when it will SHARE it. Planning for sharing is the only way to keep the amount of money invested in gifts or donations within your income level. Taxes is a form of "forced buying" for the family and provides a variety of goods and services which the individual or family could not provide alone. Therefore, everyone has the privilege and should use the public goods and services to his own advantage; and should promote, support, and vote for worthwhile uses of tax monies. Such action will return the best buys for one's tax dollars. RJWC Selling Tickets Now For Cancer Fund Card Party Tickets have gone on sale for the Raeford Junior Woman's Club card benefit.
