4-H Fashion Revue Winner Chosen Gwyn Mansfield was named overall county winner at the sewing contest and fashion revue presented by the 4-H Clubs and the Extension Homemakers Club Thursday night at the Raeford Presbyterian Church. Miss Mansfield will represent Hoke County in state competition at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Camp May 24 at a special Clothing Camp. Youth Division contestants competed in Pre-Teen (9-11 year olds), Early Teen (12-13), and Senior Teen (14-19) categories. In the Pre-Teens, Patricia Winchester received first place for an apron: Sonya McGregor and Brenda Pierce tied for first place for a skirt; and Shelia Monroe was awarded first place with a sportswear entry. Firt place winners in Early Teens were Sharon Connell with sportswear, and Wendy Mansfield for a skirt. " nsfBTd Gwyn Mansfield took top honors in Senior Teens and Beth Cameron received second place. In the Adult Division, Mrs. Woodrow Hayes won first place in Dresses; Mrs. Ann Bundy and Mrs. Gerald Winchester tied for first place in children's clothes; Mrs. Louise McDiarmid was awarded first prize in Coats; Mrs. Blanche Hedgpeth was first place winner in Ensembles', Mrs. Rhenda Cameron took first place in Sportswear; and Mrs. Barbara Hiser received first place in Men's Wear. Judges were Mrs. Mavis Johnson, Cumberland County home economics extension agent, Mrs. Ann Braswell, TOP WINNER - Gwyn Mansfield, modeling the dress she sewed, was named overall winner in the fashion revue presented Thursday night at the Raeford Presbyterian Church. Miss Mansfield will represent the county at state 4-H competition in a special clothing camp. Mrs. Frances Wooley, county clothing leader, narrated the Adult Division program, and Jennie Monroe, senior 4-H member, was commentator for the Youth Division review. Delaine Peckham was pianist. Moore's of Raeford was the 4-H sponsor and the Adult Division was sponsored by Knit-Away, Inc. Door prizes were furnished by Macks, Theresa's Dress Shop, and Raeford Floral Company. College News Lynn Ivey, sophomore at Louisburg College, has been nominated by Lillmann Dorm as a candidate for May Queen, to be chosen this weekend. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Doc Ivey of Raeford and is majoring in social work.
