?j/i te/ Dinner Parties Are Honors For Ussery - McDonald Pair Harriett S. Ussery and Neill McDonald, whose wedding will take place on May 10, have been extended a number of pre-nuptial courtesies. The employees of Raeford Oil Company entertained them with a steak cookout Tuesday evening, April 22, at the Prospect Avenue home of Mr, and Mrs. William Rogers. Taylor - Herring Sally Mieszkiewicz Herring, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley J. Mieszkiewicz of Salisbury, and Gary Howard Taylor, son of Mrs. Howard J. Taylor of Raeford and the late Mr. Taylor, were married April 12 in the chapel of St. John's Lutheran Church, Salisbury. The Rev. Edward Long officiated. A reception was held in the church library immediately after the ceremony. The bride, a graduate of Appalachian State University, is employed in the advertising department of Belk-Harry Co. (dr. Taylor is a graduate of Hoke County/ High School and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He is employed with the Northwestern Bank. The hosts presented the honor guests with gifts of steak knives, a can opener and blender. Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Gatlin, Jr., and Mrs. Laurie McEachern held a dinner party for the bridal couple on Wednesday evening at the Gatlin home. Guests were served hors d'oeuvres in the flower garden before dinner. Places for ten were laid in the dining room and sun room, which were decorated with Spring flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Gatlin and Mrs. McEachern presented the couple with a percolator and ice bucket. Mrs. Claude Bishop, aunt of the bridegroom-elect, attended from Goldsboro. Mr. and Mrs. Coton Scarborough and their daughters and families, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Newsome of Southern Pines and Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Koonce of Lumberton, were hosts for a family dinner party honoring the bridal couple at the Koonce home on Friday evening at 7:30. The guests were served hors d'oeuvres in the den. Places were set for ten at the dining room table which held a centerpiece of daisies and snapdragons. Spring flowers were used throughout the house. The five children enjoyed their own party in the breakfast and playrooms. Gift to the honor guests was a card table. On Sunday evening, Mrs. C.L. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Thomas, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Carson Davis, Jr., hosted a dinner party at Mrs. Thomas' Fulton Street home. Upon arrival of the guests, Mrs. Thomas served punch and accompaniments in the foyer. Eighteen places were laid at the dining room table and at small tables in the living room. Mured Spring flowers were used for decoration. The hosts presented the bridal couple with giftfoflinen. Out of \own guests were Mrs. Claude! Dinner Honors Bridal Couple Miss Debbie Turbeville and David Allison, whose marriage will take place May 10 at the Raeford United Methodist Church, were honored with a dinner party at the home of Miss Turbeville's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. Davis of Red Springs. Upon her arrival, Miss Turbeville was presented a corsage of pink carnations and roses. Bouquets of Spring flowers were arranged throughout the home. The hostess invited guests into the dining room where the buffet table was decorated with an arrangement of mixed pastel flowers. Gift for the bridal couple from the hosts was a Crock-Pot. BRIDGE Mrs Pecora Mrs. John Pecora was hostess to her bridge club Thursday night. She served cake and coffee when guesls arrived and nuts, candies and Cokes during progressions. Visitors to the club were Mrs. Mike Wood and Mrs. Hank Richards. Prizes went to Mrs. Martin Webb for club high score, to Mrs. Richards for visitor's high, and to Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Benny McLeod for bingo.
