In District Court Light Docket Wrapped Up Early A light docket was wrapped up by early afternoon Friday and a large number of cases were continued to a later date. Three men pleaded guilty to drunken driving and a woman was found not guilty of drunken driving. Pleading guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) was Ralph E. Stewart, 224 Roberts Street, who was sentenced to 90 days suspended for one year, ordered not to drive for one year except under terms of limited permit granted, fined $150 and costs. Breathalyzer result was .19, according to records. Billy Ray Jolly, Laurinburg, pleaded guilty to DUI, driving while license revoked, carrying a concealed weapon, and exceeding a safe speed. Jolly was handed a 12 - month term suspended for two years, put on probation two years, ordered not to drive for two years, directed to begin alcoholic's rehabilitation, and fined $500 and costs. Terry W. Caulder, Raeford, pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of simple assault and the result was PJC for two years with orders to pay costs. Neil J. Gilchrist, Rt. 1, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to simple assault and was sentenced to 30 days suspended for five years. A portion of costs was remitted for good cause shown. Beatrice B. Walker, Gen. Del., Raeford, pleaded guilty to littering and was handed three days in jail suspended upon $10 fine and costs. Nelson Tyler. Rt. 1, Raeford. pleaded guilty to public drunkenness, and was ordered to pay costs and jail fees. Jerry McNeill, Raeford, pleaded guilty to two counts of worthless checks totaling $20 to Parks Grocery and was sentenced to 30 days suspended for two years, ordered not to pass any worthless checks for two years, and ordered to make restitution and court costs. McNeill pleaded guilty to two other counts of worthless checks totaling $25 to Parks and received the same sentence, to begin at the expiration of the first sentence. Herman A. Saunders, 51 Creen Street, pleaded guilty to a worthless check for $10 to Harrells Grocery and was ordered to make restitution and meet court costs. Roy L. Leak, address listed as back of Upchurch School, pleaded guilty to worthless ? check for $20 to A&P and was given 30 days suspended and ordered to pay restitution and costs. Joe A. McGeachy, P.O. Box 99, Raeford, pleaded guilty to no financial responsibility and expired license plate and received a PJC for two years and orders to pay costs. Vernon L. Johnson, Fayetteville, pleaded guilty to speeding 65 in a 45 mph zone and received a PJC for two years and orders to pay costs. Gregory B. Luckett, Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to careless and reckless driving, no financial responsibility, and having no registration and was given a six months suspended for two years, orders not to violate any motor vehicle laws for two years, and a $75 fine plus costs. Main Street, public drunkenness and having no operator's license, and having no registration; Gene Thome, Fayetteville, forcible trespass; Erouise Stoncil, Selma, N.C., non-support; Larry Parks, 116 S. Wright Street, leaving scene of an accident; and ITiomas F. Wright, College Drive, worthless check. Final judgment was entered on Charles Pickard, alias Charles E. Pickard, Raeford, who was convicted earlier of petty larceny. Pickard Was given a two year term as a committed youth offender suspended for two years, put on probation three years provided he reside at Troy House, a half way facility in Durham, until such time he is rehabilitated. Team Headed For State Meet The Hoke County Jaycees B.B. Gun Shooting Team will travel to Pleasant Garden, N.C., this Saturday to compete in the state championship. Coach Robert Taylor announced. The trip is the culmination of a four month long project, involving 109 young people aged 7-14 who completed a six week course. The fifteen member team was chosen and then underwent four weeks of intensive training. In the state match, the team will be judged on shooting, proper gun handling, safety rules, and good sportsmanship, Taylor said. The winner will represent North Carolina in the International competition at Coral Gables. Fla. in June. The Hoke team is being co-sponsored by the Jaycees, Southern National Bank and The Bank of Raeford. Sandy Grove Plans Revival The Sandy Grove United Methodist Church will hold revival services from Sunday through Thursday evenings. May 4 - 8, at 7:30 pjn. The evangelist will be the Reverend Robert Rudd from Pinebluff. The Rev. Mr. Rudd received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity degrees at Asbury College and Seminary at Wilmore, Ky., and has done additional study at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
