Austin Burial was in the church died Thursday at her home in iHoke. are three sons, James Earl David Leon Patterson and Maurice Patterson; a sister, Willie Mae Southerland; a brother, James Allen Southerland; a grandfather, Caesar Patterson, six aunts; five uncles; nieces, Cousins and others. General Grant Graham Funeral services for General Grant Graham were held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Rockfish Grove Free Will Baptist Church by Bishop R.L. Douglas. Burial was in Roickfish Grove Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Grtham of Raeford; one stepson, James Jones of Washington, D.C.; six sisters, Mrs. Mattie McCollum of Fayetteville, Mrs. Ina Belle Sanders of Raeford, Mrs. Annie Neal Riley of Laurinburg, Miss Louella Purcell, Mrs. Annie James Henny and Mrs. Eva Lee Williams, all of Baltimore, Md.; four brothers, Ralph Graham of Cameron, Sam Graham of Burgaw and Willie Graham and James Archie Purcell of Raeford. Waynond Johnson Funeral services for Waymond Johnson were conducted Saturday at 2 pjn. in Friendship Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Bishop Robert Douglas officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. , Johnson, 32, died May 13 in Fayetteville. Purvis Percell Funeral services for Purvis Percell were conducted at 3 pjn. Sunday at St. James United Church of God in Raeford with elder E.H. Bain officiating. Burial was in the Silver Grove Cemetery. Percell, 51, died May 12 in Baltimore, Md. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. L. Percell of Baltimore; four daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Murdock, Mrs. Dorine Strickland, Mrs. Loretta Miller and Miss Sharon Percell, all of Baltimore; three sons, Purvis Percell, Jr., Joe Percell and Nelson Percell all of Baltimore; four brothers, John C. Percell of Greensboro. Willie Percell of Pinehurst, Manley Percell and Kinston Percell, both of Raeford; three sisters, Mrs. Maybell Campbell of Fayetteville, Frances Percell and Mrs. Bertha McPhatter both of Raeford; and 12 grandchildren. Lumber Bridge News By Lib Sumner Johnny McGougan is a patient at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schropt and children of Wheaton, Maryland, arrived last Thursday and are spending a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Clifton. Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Hall, Sr., attended the graduation exercise at Catawba College, Salisbury, last Sunday. Their son, R.F. Hall, Jr., was among those who graduated. John Waugh of Charlotte spent Sunday with Misses Ruth and Ruby Forbes. Misses Lib and Lois Sumner were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. F.O. Graham Tuesday night. Johnny Balfour spent the weekend with friends at Carolina Beach. Mrs. Ruth McArthur visited Mrs. WJL Schell Friday. Mrs. Ann Mitchell of Fayetteville, daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Barnes, is seriously ill in a hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell were in Switzerland due to attending a travel agency convention. The Rev. Robert Glascow, minister of Rex Presbyterian Church, will leave Wednesday for Roanoke, Virginia, as he has accepted summer work there. The church gave a Farewell Family Dinner in the fellowship hall last Wednesday nigit. Kimberly and Kristy McMillan spent Friday with their grandmother, Mrs. S.E. Sumner. Mrs. Johnny McGougan is quite sick, at home, with flu. Women of the Lumber Bridge and Rex Presbyterian Churches celebrated their 53rd birthday objective at Rex Presbyterian Church, Monday night Mrs. Jimmy Shaw, president, called the meeting to order. Mrs. Genella Dearer gave the invocation and Miss Julia Mclver was in charge of the program. Miss Mclver diowed slides of Japan and Korea and gave a very interesting talk. She was dressed in a Japanese Kimono and shoes which die purchased on her trip to these countries. A social hour followed. Birthday cake and punch were served. BCH TRUSTEES BRIEFED - Members of the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina's trustee committee on buildings and grounds met May IS at the Mills Home campus in Thomasville for their annual briefing on the agency's work in these areas. Wall, Jr. Hoke Girl Earns Grant A Hoke High senior has been awarded a $500 scholarship by Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation. Pamela Smith, the dauahter of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Smith of Rt. 3, Raeford, has been chosen for one of two Lucy Smith scholarships lor study at a college or university. Two other scholarships are given for technical schools or community colleges. While at Hoke High, Pamela has been a member of the Honor Society, chorus, chorale, Science Club, French Club, Bus Drivers' Club, Pep Club, Junior Executive Board, Senior Executive board, ESSA and SAE. She has also served as a marshal, president of the junior class, president of the senior class. Homecoming Queen, bus driver of the month. She was elected to the Senior Hall of Fame. Pamela plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill next fall. Scholarships were also awarded to Pamela Monroe of Fayetteville, Eunice Juanita Bowyer of Laurinburg and Brenda Lee Jones of Red Springs. Judgments Entered In District Civil Court Judgments were entered in two contested suits Monday in District Civil Court here with D.B. Herring preading. A jury heard United Parcel Service vs Whispering Pines Manufacturing and ruled for the plaintiffs, awarding $1,050.03. judge Herring found for the plaintiffs.
