SHY - This young student, sporting a previously taboo tceshirt with pictorial
markings, declined to have her face photographed or her name used. She seemed
to he endorsing Hawaii, Primo beer, or both.
STAY HEALTHY. HAVE BIGGER FRIENDS - This was the message
proclaimed on Anthony McNeill's shirt next to a colorful cartoon chtracter.
McNeill had one complaint about the new dress styles, "Girls can V wear shorts. /
don 7 like that. "

TEAMS CHOICE-David Wood has
been chosen co<aptain of the Eton
College football team for next year,
serving with Henry Augustus
deSbnone of Daykstown, Pa. (Co I,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Wood
of Raeford, is one of the top scholars
on the team, making the dean's list
most of his three years at Eton, where
he is motoring in social science. The
defensive backfkld of which he is a
part has consistently been ranked
among the best among the nation's
small colkges in pass defense.
with the present outlook for the
Republicans in North Carolina being
less than bright for 1976, the GOP
heavyweights for a state-wide race may
well be holding off for a more
favorable climate.
LIEUT. GOVERNOR - It looks like
there may be as big a scramble for the
nomination for lieut. governor among
the Democrats as for governor. Some
who are eying the governor's mansion
may well drop down a notch to the
lieutenant governor's race.
Waverly F. Akins of Fuquay ?
Varina, president of the County
Commissioners Association in North
Carolina is regarded as an almost
certain candidate for the job. State
Rep. Herbert Hyde of Asheville is
regarded as a likely candidate, and
House Speaker Jimmy Green could
well be in the race for the number two
spot. Mayor Howard Lee of Chapel
Hill has indicated strong interest in
making the race. E. Frank Stephenson,
Jr. of Murfreesboro has been an
announced candidate for some
months.
