Dupree ordered a Rt. 3 woman to make restitution for kicking the deputy as she was being arrested. Maggie Mae Purcell, age listed as both 33 and 26, pleaded no contest to assaulting an officer. Deputy James Peterkin, by kicking him in the thigh near the groin. She pleaded no contest to a second charge of resisting an officer, related to a threat to hit Deputy George McGuire with a brick. The incidents happened when the deputies served the woman with a warrant for assaulting her husband by pointing a gun. Mrs. Purcell received a six month term suspended for five years, and was fined SSO in addition to the payment of $50 for use and benefit of Peterkin. The assault by pointing a gun charge was dropped because the state's witness did not wish to prosecute, according to records. In other action, six drivers pleaded guilty to drunken driving, and one defendant was found not guilty. Jericho McCallum, Rt. 4, Raeford, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) and received a 90 day term suspended for 18 months, 18 months probation, orders not to drive for one year except under limited permit, $150 fine plus costs, and orders to undergo alcoholic's rehabilitation. Breathalyzer result was .11, according to records. Bertha M. Hollingsworth, Rt. 1, Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI aftei companion charges of transporting open bottle in passenger area and simple possession of marijuana were dropped. She drew a six month sentence suspended for one year, orders not to drive for one year, and a SI SO fine and costs. Breathalyzes result was .19, according to records. Ernest D. Dickens, Rt. 1, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to DUI and the result was a six month term suspended two years, orders not to drive until licensed, and a S2S0 fine and costs. Breathalyzer reading was .24, according to records. David Lee Patterson, McCain, pleaded guilty to DUI and improper lights, and he drew a six month sentence suspended for two years and two year probation. He was ordered not to drive for one year, begin alcoholic's rehabilitation, and fined S2S0 and costs. Breathalyzer result was .22, according to records. Herman Cummings, Jr., Rt. 2, Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI and received 90 days suspended for one year, orders not to drive for one year except under terms of limited permit, and $150 fine and costs. No Breathalyzer result was listed. Douglas McGougan, Parkton, pleaded guilty to DUI and a second charge of having no operator's license, and he was sentenced to six months suspended for 18 months and put on probation 18 months. He was fined SI60 and costs and directed to undergo alcoholic's rehabilitation. Breathalyzer result was .22, according to records. Found not guilty of DUI was Joe Allen Boahn, Rt. 4, Raeford. The Breathalyzer test was refused, according to records. A DUI charge was nol prossed with leave, meaning it can be re-opened later, against William Lowery, Jr., Wakulla, who pleaded guilty to reckless driving and driving left of center. Lowery received a six month term suspended for two years, two year probation, orders not to drive for one year, and SI SO fine and costs. Breathalyzer result was .00, according to records. Henry D. Odom, Rt. 1, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to larceny and drew a one day to two year term as a youthful offender suspended for two years. He was put on probation two years and ordered to make $50 restitution to United Cerebral Palsy Fund. Alton Bounds, Rt. I, Red Springs, was found not guilty of assault with a deadly weapon (ADW), and the prosecuting witness was taxed costs. Ray burn May nor, Shannon, was found not guilty of assault by pointing a gun, and the state's witness was ordered to pay costs. John D. Wilkes, 710 Green St., was found not guilty of unlawful use of a telephone, and die prosecuting witness was ordered to pay costs. Freddie Gilchrist, Rt. 1, Red Springs, was found not guilty of disposing of mortgaged property. The prosecuting witness was ordered to pay costs. Betty J. Maynor, Rt. 1, Shannon, was found not guilty of temporary larceny of an auto, and the prosecuting witness was taxed costs. Brady Locklear, Rt. 4, Red Springs, was found not guilty of assault on a female. Archie Melvin, Rt. 2, Raeford, pleaded guilty to worthless check for $120.58 to Faye's Grocery and received a 60 day term suspended upon payment of restitution and costs. A number of defendants pleaded guilty to various driving offenses. They Neil R. McGeachy,Shannon,having no operator's license, 30 day's suspended upon $25 fine and costs; Benny Blankenship, Ft. Bragg, reckless driving, 30 days suspended upon $25 and costs; Mitchell Parker, Rt. 2, Raeford, having no operator's license and operating without helmet, 30 days suspended upon $25 fine and costs; Also, Ed McKoy, Rt. 3, Red Springs, having no operator's license and reckless driving, 60 days suspended for two years, no driving until properly licensed, $35 fine and costs; Edward L. Williams, Parkton, allowing unlicensed person to drive, also allowing intoxicated person to drive, prayer for judgment continued (PJC) to June 20; Irvin L.Washington, Ft. Bragg, speeding 65 in a 55 mph zone, 30 days suspended upon $5 fine and costs; Willie N. McGilivary, Rt. 3, Raeford, stop sign violation, ten days in jail suspended upon payment of costs; and William A. Smith, Rt. 1, Raeford, Inspection violation, 30 days suspended upon payment of costs. The following cases were not prosecuted: William J. Steiniger, Southern Pines, unsafe movement; Barbara L. Billinger, Rt. 2, Raeford, failure to decrease speed; and Eric L. Holt, Rt. 1, Raeford, Improper equipment. Not prosecuted with leive were Andrew Lloyd, Raeford, non-support; John D. Wilkes, 710 Green St., assault on a female; and BiUy M.
