In District Court Four Plead Guilty To Drunken Driving Four persons pleaded guilty to drunken driving Friday and one defendant was handed a one year jail term Friday. Melvin L. Dees, 119 Edinborough Ave., pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) and a second charge of driving while license revoked. Decs was sentenced to 12 months in prison and gave notice of appeal. Bond was continued at SI,000. Dees' Breathalyzer result was .22, according to records. Also pleading guilty to DUI was Neal E. Stocks, Rt. 3, Raeford, who received a six month term suspended for three and one half years, was put on probation three and one half years, ordered to give up his license for one year and fined SI50 and costs. A limited driving permit was issued. Breathalyzer result was .15. according to records. Stocks also pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and received an identical sentence and S200 fine, to run consecutively. Troy Cantrell, Jr., Fayettevdle. pleaded guilty to DUI alter the state took a nol pros, or declined to prosecute, a second charge of having no operator's license. He drew a suspended 90 day term, was ordered not to drive for one year and fined SI50 and costs. No Breathalyzer result was listed. Michael A. Whitte. Thomasville, Ga., pleaded guilty to DUI (second offense) and received a six month term suspended for one year, orders not to drive for one year, and a S250 Deaths And Funerals Huland Sanders Final rites for Huland Sanders were held Tuesday at 3:30 in the Piney Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Canine Class Ends Tonight Graduation will be held Thursday at 7:30 pm. at Raeford Elementary School gym for students in the dog obedience training class. Trophies will be presented to tire two trainers and dogs with the highest scores in graduation competition and diplomas will be awarded to all trainers. The public is invited to attend. Fire Budget Meet Set For Stonewall The Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual . budget meeting Tuesday, June 17, at 8 p.m. at the firehouse. Bethune, Raeford, pleading not guilty to reckless driving, found guilty of lesser included offense of exceeding a safe speed, taxed costs; Bruce A. Beidelrnan. Fayettevillc, registration violation, taxed costs; James W. Jones, P.O. Box 722, Raeford, 65 in a 55 mph zone. PJC two years, taxed costs; James L. Decoursey, Dania, Fla., 68 in a 55 mph zone, SlO, costs; (having no license, not prosecuted); Milton H. Bcntlcy, Atlanta. Ga.. 79 in a 55 mph zone, $25, costs; Bennie McDaniel, Ft. Bragg. 65 in a 55 mph zone, $5, costs; Paul G. Dowdle, Lurnberton. 65 in a 55 mph zone, PJC two years, taxed costs: Thomas R. Hargis, Fayetteville, received a suspended two year term and was put on probation three and one half years after pleading guilty to driving under suspension. He was fined $500 and costs. Called and failing to appear and forfeiting bond were Joseph D. Snipes, Lancaster, S.C., 79 in a 55 mph zone, and Edward Propsky, Huntington. 68 in a 45 mph zone, Frances M. Cook, Baltimore, Md? was found not guilty of driving with no license The following cases were not prosecuted: Billy Black, Lamont Street, injury to personal property and Ernest D. Jacobs, East Elwood Ave., unauthorized use of a conveyance. Not prosecuted with leave was Mitchell A. Graham. Rt. 1, Raeford, public drunkenness. Britt of Hyattsville, Maryland and Mrs. Flora Britt of St. Pauls were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ormond Black. Mrs. Jessie Livingstone spent the weekend in Richmond, Virginia visiting her brother Ed Gibson who is very ill. Mrs. Maggie Dean is spending the week with Mrs. Lottie Cheshire in Sanford. J.A. Webb Back Home County commissioner J.A. Webb is out of the hospital and resting at home, a family spokesman said.
