Strickland - Walters Pair Speak Wedding Vows Friday Miss Mary Eileen Walters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie L. Walters of Route 3, and Timothy Alan Strickland, son of the Reverend and Mrs. Carl Strickland of Rockfish, were married at five o'clock, Friday afternoon, at Community United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mr. Strickland officiated for the double ring ceremony. An arrangement of white gladioli, mums, and yellow and white daisies, flanked by seven-branched candelabra, formed a setting for the vows. Miniature ivy entwined the candelabra and outlined the kneeling bench. Wedding music was furnished by Mrs. Helen Lamply, pianist. Mrs. Jimmy McDiarmid sang, "All of My Life," and for the benediction, Barry Ellis, Mrs. McDiarmid and Rochelle ^Valters sang, "The Lord Bless You and Keep You." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal, empire gown of white bonne satin fashioned with * Venice lace at the bodice, neckline, sleeves and around the hemline. Her chapel length illusion veil, edged with lace, was attached to a crown of pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses and gypsophila with ivy streamers and yellow and white ribbons. The bride's dress was made by her mother. The maid of honor, Miss Geraline Smith of Raeford, wore a floor-length, empire dress of yellow flocked voile with white velvet ribbon at the waistline. White velvet ribbon formed her headpiece and she carried a single long stemmed yellow rose. The bridesmaids, wearing similar floor-length dresses of green flocked voile, were Twana and Susan Strickland, sisters of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Jimmy McDiarmid and Rochelle Walters, sisters of the bride. Each one carried a single yellow rose. Rebecca Walters, the bride's sister, was flower girl. She wore a floor-length dress of green flocked voile. Danny Gibson of Raeford served as best man. Ushers were Michael and Alan Walters, brothers of the bride, and Roland Fulk, uncle of the bride. The mother of the bride was attired in a long gown of sea-green , nylon with matching accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a floor-length gown of peach polyester with peach accessories. The mothers and grandmothers wore corsages of white carnations. After a wedding trip to the coast, the couple will make their home at Route 3, Raeford. For travel the bride chose a multicolor floral nylon jersey dress and a corsage of yellow rosebuds from her bouquet. The bride, a 1974 graduate of Hoke County High School, has completed one year in business at Sandhills Community College and is employed at McCain. The bridegroom was graduated from Hoke County High School and attended Sandhills Community College's architectural technology course for one year. He is employed by Knit-Away. Mrs. W.B. McDiarmid directed the wedding. Reception Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained with a reception at their home. The dining room table was covered with a yellow linen cloth overlaid with white lace and centered with an arrangement of yellow and white daisies and gypsophila. The three-tiered wedding cake was topped with a miniature bride and groom. Also served were punch, nuts Mrs. Timothv Alan Strickland and mints. Mrs. Waylon Fulk of Fayetteville served cake and Mrs. HP. Walters of Route 3 poured punch. Both are the bride's aunts. Denise Walters, sister of the bride, served at the register. Rehearsal Party Mrs. Lucille Smith and her daughter Geraline, entertained with a post-rehearsal party Monday evening at the church for the wedding party and families. Punch, finger sandwiches, cookies, nuts and mints were served. The bridal couple presented gifts to their attendants during the evening. Hoke Officers' Auxiliary Formed The wives of Hoke County law enforcement officers held an organizational meeting Friday night at die home of Mrs. Frank Crumpler. Aims of the auxiliary members are to encourage their husbands in their careers, to strengthen the men's organization, and to be of service to the community. The following officers were elected: president, Mrs. Frank Crumpler; vice-president, Mrs. Kermit Riley; secretary and Sandhills' Christian Women's Club The Sandhills Christian Women's Club will hold Uieir regular monthly meeting June 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst. A special feature will be presented on hair styling by Mrs. Sherry Campbell of Acquarius Beauty Shop in Aberdeen. Music will be presented by soprano soloist Mrs. James Williams fo Candor. The board of directors includes die officers and Mrs. D.L. Minshew, Mrs. Sam Motley, Mrs. Ronald Webb and Mrs. Archie Clark. Tea, Dinner Fete Bridal Couple Miss Margaret Holland, June 28 bride-elect of Julian Johnson, was honored with a tea last week given by Mrs. Marcus R. Smith and Mrs. Luke McNeill at The Smith home on N. Main Street. Arrangements of Spring flowers were used for decoration in the living room and dining room. Miss Holland received a corsage of roses and gifts of crystal and silver. Last Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gatlin, Mrs. R.A. Matheson and Mr. and Mrs. Tomtnie Upchurch, were hosts for a dinner party at the Gatlin's lake house to honor Miss Holland and Mr. Johnson. Gifts of silver and crystal were presented to the bridal couple. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence McNeill spent several days last week in Norfolk, Va? with their daughter, Mrs. Virginia M. Maddry and son Larry. Closses Of 1934 - 35 Hold Reunion The Raeford High School classes of 1934 and 1935 held their first class reunion Saturday evening June '? al, lhe Sheraton Motor Inn Southern Pines. Welcoming committees from each class welcomed guests at the door and issued name tags. During the social hour guests were entertained by music from the 30's Ail arrangement of spring flowers' graced the head table. The flowers were taken to John Lee Stephens a member of the 1934 class who was unable to attend. The invocation was given by the Kev.
