mm/ C Miss Postel Is Bride Of James G. Hi oft Mrs. James Galen Hiott Miss Patricia Anne Postel of Statesville, became the bride of James Galen Hiott of Newton, in an 11:00 ajn. ceremony Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fayetteville. The Rev. Harry Webb officiated at the double ring ceremony. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. Teresa England of Fayetteville, organist. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Milo Joseph Postel of Raeford and r. the late Lt. Col. Postel. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Epting Hiott of Thomasville. The bridal couple entered ? together. The bride wore a gown of ivory Alamode lace designed with high neckline, long tapered lace sleeves, princess bodice accented with ribbon and tiny covered buttons down the center front,and cathedral train. Her lace - edged mantilla was worn with an illusion blusher, and she carried a cascade bouquet of white Fugi chrysanthemums, babies' breath and ivy. Miss Elizabeth McCall Postel of Raeford was maid of honor for her sister. Slie wore an empire-style dress of maize chiffon made with V-neckline, caplet sleeves and flared skirt, and matching maize picture hat. She carried a nosegay of white, yellow, pink and blue daisies with ivy. Miss Margaret Bruce Postel of Raeford, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Her apricot chiffon dress was similar to that of the honor attendant and ire carried similar flowers. Milo Joseph Postel Jr., brother of the bride, was altar boy. Mr. Hiott was best man for his son. Ushers were Gary Lee Hiott of Thomasville, brother of the bridegroom, and Bill Keith Campbell of Winston-Salem. The mother of the bride wore a long-sleeve dress of shrimp chiffon with below the waist chiffon jacket trimmed with peach tape embroidery. The bridegroom's mother was attired in nile green crepe with chantilly lace bodice and long-sleeve jacket. Immediately following the ceremony, the bride's mother entertained with a luncheon at the Fort Bragg Officer's Club. The bride is a 1973 graduate of East Carolina University with a B.S. degree in intermediate education. She was selected for membership in Phi Kappa Phi honor society. She is employed as a correctional program supervisor with the N.C. Department of Corrections in Statesville. The bridegroom, a 1975 East Carolina University graduate with a BA. degree in English, is a Navy veteran and is employed as a juvenile court counselor in the 25th Judicial District. The couple will reside at 237 20V4 Street, Newton. Thomas - Sams Mrs. Orine Joyce Sams and James Walter Thomas were married June 7, at 7:00 pan., at the Raeford Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John C. Ropp officiating. Music was furnished by Josef Privette, organist. The bride wore a baby blue ' chiffon dress and had an arm bouquet of red roses. She was attended by her daughter, Joyce Ann Hales. William S. Thomas, brother of the Bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Jimmy Sams, son of the bride and Robert Lamar Colones, Tommy Colones and Charles Edward Brewer Jr., nephews of the bridegroom. Mr. and Mrs. John Tyler, Mrs. Frances Harris, Mrs. Alene Daniels and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Burgess, gave a reception at the W.O.W. Hall, after the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas are making their home here. Mrs. James Walter Thomas Bridal Shower For Miss Hart Mrs. Charlotte Ammons, Miss Ethelynde Ballance, Mrs. Jerry Cattis, Mrs. Dan Howie, and Mrs. Bonnie Niven entertained Miss Jane Hart, August 3rd bride-elect, with a miscellaneous shower in the Fellowship HaU of Raeford United I ? Mr. and Mrs. DX. Parker Sr. returned home Tuesday after attending the graduation of their ^grandson, Edgar Davit McPherson, from Bartlett-Yancey Senior High School on June 4, and then spending several days with the McPhersons at Montr eat. Methodist Church on Thursday night. The table was covered with a white linen and lace cloth over yellow and was centered with white daises and yellow mums. Miss Hart received a corsage of white carnations and an electric iron from her hostesses. Games were played and Miss Hart was presented the prizes which were kitchen items. Guests were served refreshments of cake, fudge, nuts and lime punch. A social hour followed for the fifty guests while the honoree opened and displayed her shower of gifts. Miss Clark, Mr Orem United In Marriage Mrs. Charles Michael Orem Miss Cheryl Lynn Clark and Charles Michael Orem were united in marriage on Saturday, June 14, at 3:00 p.m., at the Raeford Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John C. Ropp officiated for the double ring ceremony. Lester Southern, organist, provided wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Clark and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Orem. The vows were spoken before the altar which was decorated with two seven-branched candelabra and two arrangements of white mums, gladioli and daisies, backed by greenery. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of white chantilly lace over taffeta, fashioned with mandarin neckline, camelot sleeves, empire bodice, and full skirt which extended into a slight train. Her illusion mantilla was edged and appliqued with matching lace and she carried a bouquet of white roses, babies' breath and white ribbon streamers, centered with a white orchid. Miss Margaret Rogers was maid of honor. She wore a sleeveless formal dress of peach dotted swiss made with empire waistline, A-line skirt, and matching jacket with white, lace edged, collar and cuffs. Her white, sheer picture hat was trimmed with peach ribbon around the brim. She carried a bouquet of peach pompons and babies's breath. Bridesmaids were Kathy Jude, Vickie Clark, cousin of die bride, and Teri Orem, sister of the bridegroom. Their, dresses, hats and flowers were identical to those of the honor attendant in rainbow shades of lavender, pink and yellow. Junior bridesmaids were Tarn and Pam McDonald of Raleigh, and the flower girl was Melissa Hinnant of Goldsboro. They were dressed like the other attendants. Mr. Orem served as best man for his son. Ushers were Tim Sessoms, Jim Hendren, Marty Bowman, and Steve Orem, the bridegroom's brother. The mother of the bride wore a floor-length, peach dress and the bridegroom's mother was attired in a long, blue gown. Both mothers had corsages of white carnations. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. Mary Blake, wore a floor-length pink dress with a white carnation corsage. For travel, the bride wore a two-piece beige dress with matching accessories and the orchid corsage from her bridal bouquet. After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, the couple will be at home here where the bridegroom is employed by Knit-Away. The newlyweds are both 1975 graduates of Hoke County High School. Reception Following the ceremony, the bride's parents enterlained with a reception in the church fellowship hall. The refreshment table was covered with a white lace cloth and centered with pink and white carnations. Mrs. Jane Hinnant poured punch and Mrs. Joseph Morrell served the wedding cake. Mrs. Betty Conoly presided at the guest register. Post-Rehearsal Dinner After the wedding rehearsal on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Orem, parents of the bridegroom, were hosts for a dinner at their home honoring die wedding party. Out of Town Guests Out of town guests at die wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hinnant of Goldsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gibbons of Parkton, Marcus and Gertis Sharp of Kennedi Square, Pa., Carol Belton, Michael Garcici, Jeannie Egger, Dianne Egger, Mary Lou Morrell, Martin Bowman Jr., Darlene Egger. Eldred O'Neal, all of Fayetteville, Mrs. Nettie Hancock of Hope Mills, Tony Owens of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jackie McDonald of Raleigh. Oudo Court Has Creation At the regular meeting of Ouda Court No. 151, Daughters of lsis, located in the Oasis of Maxton, Desert of North Carolina, Illustrious Commandress Daughter Palmer C. Balsley and the Daughters of the Court created four new Daughters. These Daughters, all from Wadesboro, are: Daughters Audrey Jones; Betty McRae, Minnie McRae, and Doris B. Smith. After the creation, a supper was served with some of the Nobles of Ouda Temple No. 147 present. In July, Daughters of Ouda Court will honor those Daughters born in April, May, and June. To be honored are: Jean S. Bennett, Thelma S. Cooper, Nellie K. Gilliam, Catherine Hargrove, Audrey Jones, Johnsie Jones, and Annie M. McLean. Daughters who will be in charge of serving are: Mary L. Biggs, Annie IX Buchanan, Bobbie B. Dobv. Annie L. Fairley, E.P. Graham, Ha/el I McLean, Amanda T. Pemberton, Willie R. Purnell, Julia B. Robinson, Geraldine J. Greene, Betty McRae and Minnie McRae. An Egyptian Tea will be hosted by all Daughters of Ouda Court July 25, at 8:00 pan., at Ouda Temple. The month of August is vacation time for Ouda Court. A number of the Daughters will attend the Imperial Court Session in New Orleans, LA., August 17-23. Illustrious Commandress Balsley is delegate. Stork Shower Fetes Mrs. Black Mrs. Brenda Black was honored with a floating stork shower Tuesday night of last week at the home of Mrs. Pat Wilkes on St. Pauls Dr. Other hostesses were Mrs. Pat Adams, Mrs. Cynthia Drake of Linden, and Mrs. Gay Hendrix. Farewell Honor Mrs. Jerry Goza and Mrs. Earl Smith were hostesses for a luncheon Friday at the Goza home honoring Mrs. Joe J. Belcher. Out of town guests were Mrs. Vicki Valliancourt, Mrs. Marty Stevens, Miss Sharon Ashburn, Miss Mary Nell Harward, all of Winston-Salem, and Mrs. Mary Frances Howell of Laurinburg.
