McAllister) Rock fish News by Mrs. A.A. Mclnnis The W.M.U. Bible Study Group of Tabernacle Church met Monday a.m. with Mrs. Henry Fowler. The Mission in Action Group met Monday night with Mrs. Wayne Bundy. Revival services began at Pittman Grove Church last Sunday night at 7:30 and will continue through Friday night. Homecoming at this church will be next Sunday July 13th. with the usual services in the morning and singing in the afternoon. Miss Mary Sessoms of Route 3, Fayetteville. is spending some days this week with her sister. Mrs. C.M. Chason and family. Mr. and Mrs. John Baker of Vass spent last Thursday with her sistet. Mrs. Floyd Monroe. Other guests of Mrs. Monroe the past weekend were Mrs. Delia Raynor of Antioch and Mrs. Bess Newton of Parkton and her granddaughter Kelly Newton of Alaska. Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Emmons had as their guests one day last week her brother and his wife. Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Davis of High Point. Miss Mary Priest attended funeral services for Mrs. James Koonce at Stony Point last Sunday and interment in the church cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koonce arrived home Sunday p.m. after being on a tour of 27 states and Mexico. North Carolina and Tennessee on this side of ihe Mississippi River and the others from north to south on the western side of the river. If you want to know more about the trip, get them to tell you. Mrs. Craig Wood and daughter Deborah of Thomasville spent several days last week with his mother. Mrs. A.W. Wood. For the 4th of July weekend from Thursday to Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bundy and children Carl and Dayne. and Kathy Fowler spent the time at Holden Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bundy and son Gerald were also with them. Mrs. Earl J. Hare and daughter Dorothy of Charlotte spent several days last week with her mother. Mrs. A. A. Mclnnis and her brother Thomas Mclnnis. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. John A. Webb. Mr. and Mrs. James Duncan and children Karen, Jimmy, and Lisbeth left last Tuesday for Melbourn Fla. on their way home to Santa Maria Cal. after a visit with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood. On Sunday before they left, Mr. and Mrs. Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan and Mr. and Mrs. M L. Wood and children Jena and Randy all went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wood of Greenville, where they had a happy family reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood's son Fred is able to walk some now after being a bed patient at his home for a long time. Mrs. A.W. Wood returned home Wednesday after spending about a week with her son and family Mr. and Mrs. Craig Wood and daughter Deborah of Thomasville. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bundy spent from Thursday to Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yeargan at Atlantic Beach. The Yeargans had their Camper. Some more of the people must be gone to the beach. They can't be reached for news. Mrs. Franklin Roman and sons Todd and Junior of Downingtown. Pa. are spending this week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Beasley and family of Bonnie Doone and they will also visit her grand parents Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Bundy, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner and other relatives while here. Mr. and Mrs. L.B Bundy attended funeral services for his cousin Hughie Butler, at the Butler cemetery near Cumberland last Sunday p.m. Thanks to every one for their sympathy card after the death of my lister Mia Lucy Smith. And also many thanks for all the birthday cards I received last week, and the first of this week. Mr. and Mrs. M.S. Gibson and daughter Joy and son Ricky.Virginia Baxley and Susan Upchurch went to Carolina Beach last Thursday and spent the remainder of the week there. Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson was out stropping Monday so site ntust be doing o.k. Mrs. Nelia Brock spent from Thursday to Sunday with her son and his family Mr. and Mrs. Fulton' Brock and children of Fayetteville and attended services at Palestine Church Sunday, where she was once a member and she enjoyed tire service and seeing her old friends. Mrs. John A. Webb was a guest of Mrs. A.A. Mclnnis and her daughter Mrs. Earl J. Hare, last Friday. This is as much news as it will be when Mrs. Mclnnis goes to see her. Birthday Tire grand children and great grand childrenof Mrs. A.A. Mclnnis gathered at her home last Sunday. July 6th to celebrate her birthday with an out-door picnic dinner. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mclnnis of Raeford. Mr. and Mrs. Angus Mclnnis. of Wagram. Mr and Mrs. Smith Mclnnis and Mrs. Jim Maxwell of Raeford. Mr. and Mrs. James E. Mclnnis. of Fayetteville. Mr. and Mrs. Earl J Hare, of Charlotte, and the children, grand children and in-laws of the above named. Thomas Mclnnis and his mother of die home. Among the special guests were the Rev. and Mrs. Russell Fleming and sons Rusty and Nathan, Mr. and Mrs. Worth Campbell and Mrs. Leon Gibson of Fayetteville. The weather was fine, the dinner was plentiful and good, and thanks to all who helped in any way to make the day a success. The great grand children and their parents were. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Small, Jennie and Peggy, Mr. and Mrs. David Lancaster and Brian and Jennifer, Mrs. Billy Posey. Andy and Mark. The honoree received a lot of nice gifts and many thanks to the donors. Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Caddell of Raeford. who have been on the sick list lately, are both improving and she was able to attend services at Tabernacle Church Sunday after being absent for tluee Sundays because of her own and her husband's illness, lie is improving. Mr. and Mrs. Smith Mclnnis had die pleasure of keeping their little grand daughter. Jennifer, while her parents. Mr. and Mrs. David Lancaster and son Brian spent the weekend at Moorehead City Beach. They came back Sunday in time for her grand mother Mclnnis' birthday celebration. Comment Don't be afraid of getting old. Kvcry age has good and bad. 4-H Congress Begins July 21 In Raleigh Tar Heel 411 members, ages 13 and 14. will have an opportunity to participate in a tight schedule of contests, discussions, recreation and fellowship during N.C. 4-H Congress. July 21-25. The event will be held at North Carolina State University in Raleigh with the night assemblies and the Wednesday morning assembly at the Scott Pavilion at the State Fairgrounds. N.C. 4-H Congress climaxes the year's work in 4-M for the delegates, according to Brenda A Canady, Assoc. Home tc Agent. Some 35 contests will be held throughout the week to pick state winners. These winners receive awards ranging from luggage, walches and savings bonds to expense - paid trips to National 4-H Congress in Chicago. Mrs. Canady said. Other highlights during the week include a pageant tracing the history of 4-H work, a bicentennial costume dance, 'rap' sessions and classes, and the election of state 4-H council officers. The registration fee for the congress is S25 which does not include meals. Transportation will be arranged through the County Agricultural Kxtension Service Office. The deadline for application is Monday July 14. WHOOPS, WRONG BUTTON - The slate highway department arrived Tuesday morning to paint the lane markings for one-way Etwood Avenue and about six feet of yellow paint was put down before a worker realized he pushed the wrong button. A red-faced foreman said the yellow paint would have to dry before it could be fixed.
