Burglars Hit
Large losses were reported by
residents in three daylight break-ins
under investigation by the sheriffs
department.
Addic Duck, Rt. 2, Racford.
reported her home was burglarized
last Wednesday and clothing, jewelry.
a color television, record player,
three guns and other items worth
S2.200 were taken. Entry was
apparently made by breaking a
window, according to the report.
Frank Shaker, Aberdeen,
complained his residence was broken
into during die day Friday and
jewelry, a radio-tape unit, scanner,
and other items with a $1,108 value
taken. Fntry was apparently made by
breaking the window in a rear door,
according to the complaint.
Nellie Rice, Rt. 2, Racford,
reported her house was ransacked in
a daylight burglary Friday.and listed
as stolen are two color televisions, a
rifle, watches, stereo equipment, an
eight track tape machine and other
items woi th $ 1,512.
In other incidents, deputies C.
McGuire and J. Peterkin
apprehended three suspects and are
seeking a fourth man in connection
with a | break-in at Pete's 5so
Station.
The trio was charged in.onnection
with the theft of six batteries,
according to the report.
Robert L. I leeks, 305 Adams
Street, reported about S200 in
damage was done to tiles at a new
home construction site on Ft. 3
sometime Friday night.
Rue ford police responded to a call
concerning the shooting of Carlton
Locklear in his home about 4:00
p.m. Sunday according to Police
Chief Leonard Wiggins.
Locklear. 203 La man t Street,
sustained a gunshot wound from a
.22 calibre rifle by his wife. Wiggins
said.
Locklear was treated at Moore
Memorial Hospital where he is
reported to be in satisfactory
condition.
Wiggins said the case is under
investigation.

Durham Friday niglit to prepare for
the West German-Pan African meet
this Friday and Saturday.
Miss McMillan was greeted at the
airport by her family and her coach

superintendent G. Ka/ Autry and
athletic director John Pecora, and
then was whisked off to a press
conference with the rest of die
United States women's team.
Miss McMillan will compete
Saturday in the triangular meet to
take place at Duke University's
Wallace Wade Stadium. Her mark of
21 feel and seven inches in the long
jump captuted first place lor the
United States last week in the U.S. ?
Poland ? Czechoslovakia match.
The seventeen-year-old star is a
stong contender for a spot on the
United States leant to go to the
Pan-American games in Mexico City
this October.

Hospital in Eayetteville. Euncral

a.in. trom the Raelord Presbyterian
Church, conducted by the Rev. John
Ropp. assisted by the Rev. Leigh ton
McKeithan. Burial was in the
Raeford Cemetery.

Mrs. Ciillis was the wife of the late
Arthur Clifton Ciillis who died in

congregational hymn, accompanied
