Backlog Clogs Docket
A heavy backlog of cases clogged
the docket in District Court here
Friday and the session continued
until 7 p.m. before adjourning.
Eddie Hollingsworth of Rt. 2,
Raeford, entered a plea of guilty on a
DUI charge, second offense. He was
sentenced to six months suspended
for two years and two years
probation, with provisions for
surrender of license for 2 years and
orders to undergo alcoholic's
rehabilitation, along with S250 and
costs.
Dequilla Campbell of Rt. 1,
Shannon, pleaded guilty to
attempting false pretenses. She was
sentenced to 12 months suspended
for three and one half years and was
placed on probation for three and
one half years. She was fined S200
and costs.
Leroy Ray of Rt. 3, Raeford,
entered a plea of guilty to driving
while his license was suspended.
Prayer for judgment is continued for
two years and he was placed on
probation for two years and fined
costs.
Leon Davis, Camp Lejeune,
entered a plea of guilty to DUI,
driving while license was revoked,
and carrying a concealed weapon. He
was sentenced to noi more than 12
months and not less titan 8 months.
Martin McLauchlin, Rt. 2.
Raeford. pleaded guilty to driving
while license was suspended. He was
sentenced to two years suspended for
two years, and was ordered not to
drive until properly licensed and
fined $200 and costs.
Lloyd Locklear, Lumberton,
pleaded guilty to DUI fifth offense
and driving while his license was
revoked. On the first count he was
sentenced to 18 months, and on the
second count he was sentenced to
twelve months, suspended after first
sentence is completed and a fine of
$500 and costs is paid.
Freddie Stephens, 512 H. Fifth
St., Raeford. was found guilty of
engaging in an affray in which deadly
weapons were used. He was
sentenced to l>0 days suspended for
18 months, provided that he violate
no penal laws and pay $50 and costs.
Gilbert R. Wyckoff. Charlotte,
pleaded guilty to speeding 66 in a 55
mph /one. He was fined S5 and
costs.
Janie M. McDonald. Fayelteville.
pleaded guilty to speeding 70 in a 55
mph /.one and was fined $ 15 and
Benjamin T. Minshue. Rt. I.
Wagram. pleaded guilty to DUI and
was sentenced to 00 days suspended
for 12 months on condition of
license surrender for 1 2 months. He
was fined SI50 and costs. A limited
driving privilege was granted.
fclaine II Spencer. Main St.,
Raeford. pleaded guilty to two
counts of worthless check. She was
sentenced to 50 days suspended,
pending restitution of S46 to Macks
and costs.
James M. Campbell. Bronx. N.Y..
pleaded guilty to DUI and was
sentenced to six months suspended
for two years and loss of license for
12 months. He was fined S250 and
costs.
Sara Webb Haircloth. Laurtnburg,
pleaded guilty to inspection violation
and was fined costs.
Douglas McGoogan. Rt I.
Parkton, pleaded guilty to worthless
check and was sentenced to 50 days
suspended, upon restitution and
costs.
Ronald Dean Dcese. Rt. I.
Aberdeen, pleaded guitlty to
speeding S2 in a 55 mph /.one and
was sentenced to 60 days suspended
and fined S50 and costs.
Annie Lois Jones. Rt. I.Shannon,
pleaded guilty to charges of no
financial responsibility and improper
equipment. Prayer for judgment is
continued on condition of S25 fine
and costs. She also pleaded guilty to
no operators license and ficticious
number plate which was consolidated
in the judgment.
Gerard l.ucien Betty. Rt. 4. Red
Springs, pleaded guilty to exceeding
a safe speed and ihe state did not
prosecute on a charge of false report
of motor vehicle. He was fined SIO
and costs.
Thomas F. Wright. Harris Ave..
Raeford. pleaded guilty to worthless
check. Prayer for judgment is
continued on payment of costs and
restitution.
Larry Ray. Rt. 3. Raeford waived
a preliminary hearing on breaking
and entering and larceny charges and
receiving stolen goods. Bond was set
at SI.000.
Floyd C. Price III. Selma, entered
a plea of guilty to speeding 70 in a
55 ntph /one and was charged $15
and costs.
Willard R. Formyduval,
Fayetteville. entered a plea of guilty
to speeding 66 in a 55 mph zone.
Prayer for judgment is continued for
two years.
John R Smith, McCain, entered a
plea of guilty to assault with a deadly
weapon. Prayer for judgment is
continued for five years provided he
pay costs. On judgment of this
action. Smith was sentenced to two
years and this was suspended for 3 '/4
years and 3V4 years probation. He
was ordered to pay restitution for
Donny Dees $175 and $75 for
William Saunders.
Tanna Faith Barnard, Rt. 4,
Fayetteville, entered a plea of guilty
to ficticious registration plate and
was ordered to pay costs.
Carolyn Rogers Evans, Rt. I,
Wagram, entered a plea of guilty to
speeding 68 in a 55 mph zone and
was fined S5 and costs.
Russel L. Schindelheim, Ft. Bragg,
pleaded guilty to speeding 74 in a 55
mph zone. He was sentenced to 30
days suspended with a fine of S20
and costs.
Amanda McCaskill Haskins.
Aberdeen, entered a plea of guilty to
an inspection violation and was taxed
costs.
Wanda C. Allen, Rl. 1, Red
Springs, entered a plea of guilty to
no operator's license and prayer for
judgment was continued on
condition that S25 fine and costs are
paid.
Joseph Allen Green, Rt. 2,
Raeford, entered a plea of guilty to
DUI and was sentenced to 90 days
suspended for 12 months with
license surrender for one year. He
was fined S150 and costs.
Jessie Hayes Jr., Rt. 1, Red
Springs, pleaded guilty to allowing an
unlicensed person operate a motor
vehicle under his control. He was
sentenced to 30 days suspended and
fined S25 and costs.
Alexander Davis, Raeford, pleaded
guilty to assaulting a female and
received prayer for judgment for
three years and was fined costs.
Dennis Hall, inmate at Sandhills
Youth Center, entered a plea of
guilty to escape and was bound over
to the grand jury with bond set at
SI.000.
Phillip Dean Benson, 405 E.
Donaldson Ave., Raeford, pleaded
guilty to speeding 74 in a 55 mph
zone. He was fined S25 and costs
after a senlencc of 60 days was
suspended.
Rcid Holt. 506 Forest St.,
Raeford, was found not guilty of
trespassing.
Lynn Gary Locklear, inmate at
Sandhills Youth Center, pleaded
guilty to escape and was sentenced to
00 days, to begin at the expiration of
his present term.
Charles Edward Morrison Jr.. was
found guilty of public drunkenness,
failing to see before turning, and DUI
second offense. He was sentenced to
six months and gave notice of appeal
with bond to continue at S400.
Beatrice Bealty. Rt. I, Raeford.
pleaded guilty to assault with a
deadly weapon and received prayer
for judgment for three years. Costs
were remitted after good cause was
shown.
Ronald Lawson Fowler, Rt. 6.
Monroe, was found guilty of reckless
driving and was sentenced to six
months suspended providing he pay
S50 fine and costs. A notice of
appeal was given.
Harold Max Pressley Jr., Rt.. t
Harrisburg. was found guilty of
speeding 65 in a 55 rnph /.one. Prayer
for judgment is continued provided
he pay costs.
Joseph Paul Beck. Fayetlevillc,
was found guilty of passing at a
marked intersection. Prayer for
judgment is continued for two years
if costs are paid.
Carl Jackson. Rt. 2, Raeford,
pleaded guilty to DUI and speeding
60 in a 45 mph zone. He was
sentenced to six months suspended
for two years and two years
probation. His license was revoked
for two years and he was fined $250
and costs.
Murray W. Holland, Chapel Hill,
pleaded guilty to exceeding a safe
speed and the state dropped a
speeding charge. He was fined costs.
Bobby R. Freeman. Rt. 2.
Luntberton. pleaded guilty to
exceeding a safe speed. The state
dropped a charge of speeding 60 in a
55 mph zone. He was fined costs.
Benjamin McCoy, Laurinburg,
pleaded guilty to exceeding a safe
speed. He was fined costs.
Lewis Graham. Rt I. Raeford.
pleaded guilty to a worthless check.
He was sentenced to 30 days
suspended if restitution and costs are
paid.
James B Shaw. Greensboro,
pleaded guilty to exceeding a salt
speed. The stale dropped a charge of
speeding 65 in a 55 mpli cone. He
was fined costs.
Milton E. Christmas. Rockingham,
pleaded guilty to driving while
license suspended. He was sentenced
to two years suspended for two years
and fined S200 and costs. The state
dropped a charge of possession of
suspended license.
Garland Brooks. Shannon, pleaded
guilty to careless and reckless driving,
and was sentenced to 60 days
suspended on payment of S25 fine
and costs.
John McRae, Newark, N.J., failed
to appear on a charge ol passing in a
marked intersection and forfeited
bond.
Allen L. McKenzie, Rt. 3. Red
Springs, pleaded guilty to improper
equipment, and was fined costs.
Ronnie Harris. Ft. Bragg, pleaded
guilty to having no operators license,
no registration, and no financial
responsibility, and was sentenced to
60 days suspended upon payment of
S50 fine and costs.
