^^0<LLcJL McCollum - Sanders Vows Spoken At Silver Grove Baptist Church Helen Jean Sanders, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Sanders of Raeford became the bride of Joe Lawrence McCollum Sunday, July 27, in a double ring ceremony, at five o'clock in the afternoon. The Rev. W.K. Mitchell performed the ceremony at the Silver Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence McCollum of Raeford. Wedding music was provided by Russell McAllister, organist and Mrs. Gloria McLaughlin, soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory nylon organza gown fashioned with empire waist, bishop sleeves, and chapel length train. Peau d'ange lace bordered the hem and was used in a panel down the front of the gown. ' She wore a floor length mantilla veil attached to a Juliet cap and carried a colonial bouquet of mixed yellow, green and white flowers. Miss Llizabeth Sanders, maid of honor, wore a ruffled green flowered gown Willi V neck and cape collar. She carried a green mum. Bridesmaids were Phyllis McCollum, Carolyn Breden, Marie Dobbins, and SaUie Douglas. They wore gowns similar to that of ,the maid of honor. Bridgcsdalc Hollingsworth served as best man. Ushers were Hervon McCollum, James Sanders, James Breden, and Willie Dobbins. Ida Bell Dobson was flower girl and Delton Terrell Sanders was ring bearer. The bride's mother wore a pink (lowered dress and the groom's mother wore a flowered A-line gown. Reception After the ceremony the couple was honored widi a reception at Evans Recreation Center. The bride wore a lavender dress with V neck line and cape collar for travel. The couple will be at home at the Old Trail Mobile Home Park in Raeford. Mrs. Daniels Is Honored Mrs. Leonard Wiggins and Mrs. Marty Jones were hostess Friday evening for a stork shower honoring Mrs. Charlie Daniels. Upon arrival at the Wiggins home, Mrs. Daniels was presented a corsage of white mums centered with a miniature baby. An arrangement of pink, blue, yellow and white muted flowers was used in the living room where guests were served pie and coffee. Later in the evening Mrs. Daniels opened and displayed her gifts. RED SPRINGS Norkus - Freeman Couple Wed In Raleigh Miss Rebecca Jane Freeman of Raleigh and Charles Thomas Norkus of Raleigh were united in marriage Saturday in St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Given in marriage by her father the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy F. Freeman of Raleigh. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. John J. Norkus of Raleigh. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. A.J. Freeman. Sr., and the great granddaughter of Mrs. Lillie M. Maxwell, both of Raeford. After a reception at the fellowship hall of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the couple left on their wedding trip to the mountains. They will make their home in Ralei^i. The bride is a graduate of the University of N.C. at Greensboro and is co-manager of Northbrook Country Club. Her husband is a senior at N.C.S.U. and is drummer for the Hard Times Jazz Band. Bridge Club Honors Bride Mrs. W.S. Hood was hostess to her bridge club Tuesday evening. Special guest was Mrs. Julian Johnson III, recent bride. Mrs. June Johnson and other members presented Mrs. Johnson with an assortment of gifts. Dinner was served buffet style from the dining table. Guests were seated in the den. Club members played bridge later in the evening. Mrs. Carlton Niven was high scorer. Births Mr. and Mrs. Billy Scott announced the birth of a son, William Heath, on July 13 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg. Mrs. Scott is the former Linda McNeill. Engaged Mr. and Mrs. Willie Edgar Harrell announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Joanne to Frank W. Mewherter, son of Mrs. Clara Mewherter. An October wedding is planned. Bridge Mrs Copper Club members and one visitor, Mrs. Reginald Harris 111 met with Mrs. Sam Copper on Thursday night. Dessert and iced tea was served when guests arrived. Candy, pretzels and Cokes were served during the evening. Club high score prize was won by Mrs. Lewis Upchurch, Jr. Mrs. Harris received second high prize and Mrs. John Pecora received the bingo prize. Personals Mrs. Julian H.
