No news from Parker Church except the usual Services were held last Sunday. Galatia Church is making plans for a centennial celebration a week of revival services and Homecoming. Mr. and Mrs. D.F. Mclnnis of Raeford were dinner guests of Thomas Mclnnis and his mother Sunday. The car wreck that killed a 13 year old boy last week happened on a curve right near die home of Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Miss Denise Berry and her fadier Harrison Berry of Fayetteville visited her grandfather and histadicr Allrcd Berry one day last week. Mrs. Nclia Brock who accidentally fell and hurt her shoulder is not yet well but she is improving and getting along fine. REUNION The past Sunday when the McColl family got together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Terry, those present were Mr. and Mrs. James Crawford of Hendersonville, Mr. and Mrs. Laurin McColl of Red Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Forbis of Lumber Bridge, Worth McColl of Oliver Springs, Tenn., Miss Jean McColl of Washington, D.C. Mrs. Clinton Robertson and daughter Patricia of Swannanoa. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McColl and children Robert McColl and son. REUNION NO. 2 The H.C. and S.N. McColl reunion was held at Red Springs last Sunday, with many of the above named persons present. Mr. and Mrs. James Crawford, die only ones who came back to the second reunion from a distance. Teresa Allen played Softball for Willainrs Electric in Fayetteville recently, in the South River tournament. Her team won first place. Each player was presented a trophy. Mrs. Frances Fowler spent the weekend widt her sister, Mrs. Bessie Fry of Cumberland. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Terry had as their guests last Thursday and Friday. Powell, commissioner of motor vehicles, announced the completion of the initial phase of a study on the vehicle services system, particularly on vehicle registration. The project is a joint effort of the registration, data processing, and planning and research sections of the Division of Motor Vehicles. The first report of the four-phase study reviews the present system and will be followed by recommendations and implementation of improvements in the registration system over the next several years. According io Powell, the new system will include the simplification of the forms submitted, prompt issuance of vehicle titles, increased accuracy and availability of information pertaining to registered vehicles. "Our personnel are very much involved in improving the system of motor vehicle registration," said Powell. "We believe the final result will be an important service lo the people of North Carolina." sometime got home Friday. Randy visited Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wood and sons Jay and Timothy of Greenville Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. P.O. English's daughter, Mrs. Ellen Reich, sons, Ronald and Samuel of Jacksonville, Fla. came Sundav and are spending until Friday with Mr. and Mrs. English. E.T. Brock who was at Moore Memorial Hospital the first of July and came home and had to go back got home again last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Brown of Raleigh visited E.T. Brock while he was in the hospital and spent some night here with Mrs. Brock, while they were here to see him. Guests of Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson and Mrs. M.S. Gibson Monday were Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Patterson of Wallace. Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson visited her sister, Mrs. W.H. Schell of Lumber Bridge Sunday and together they visited, Mrs. Virginia Bounds of Red Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McKeithan and children Greg and Susan spent several days last week at Surf City and came back by Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Jones and Mrs. James Jones visited Mrs. Sarah Patterson on her birthday last Wednesday. Mrs. Vernon Parsons and Mrs. Oscar Hobby were guests of Mrs. Sarah Patterson Sunday, all of Miss Pattersons guests came with gifts for her birthday. The Philippi Women of the Church met with Miss Sarah Patterson Tuesday night and brought her gifts and served refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Emmons attended funeral services for her uncle, her mothers brother, J.B. Miller at Lake View, S.C. last Sunday. They were accompanied by Mrs. Esther Mae Britt. The community extends sympathy to Mrs. Emmons in the death of her uncle and also to Mrs. Bessie Gibson in the death of her mother Mrs. Harvey Grimes, who was buried at Galatia Church cemetery last Wednesday. Mrs. Alma Mosely who was in the hospital and got home, had to go back again last Sunday, a week ago and site is now at Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital, Fayettevillc. Mrs. Carolyn McCraney and her sister Mrs. Robert Lisenby and son Michael took a trip to Florida last week and stayed several days down there visiting Disney World and a lot of other interesting places. They enjoyed it all very much. Mr. and Mrs. John D. McCraney and sons, Robert and John C. of Nolanvillc, Texas came last Sunday and are spending a while this week with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McCraney and his sisters Carolyn, Theresa and Mrs. Robert Lisenby and son. Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Parker of Puppy Creek were guests of Miss Mary Priest and her brothers Walter and Frances Priest Sunday. Miss Mary Priest and Mrs. Odell Quick visited the Adcox Rest Home last Friday. Mrs. N.J. Ritters son - in ? law Henry Epps got home Saturday after being a patient at Cape Fear Valley Hospital 10 days. Poor man! They told him he could come home but he might be right back in the hospital. Thomas Mclnnis took his brother and his wife Mr. and Mrs. James F.. Mclnnis out to supper at Rowlands Restaurant Saturday night. Comment There are too many unnatural deaths, on the highways and in other accidents and intended killings. But what can anyone do about it? Teacher Attends Mrs. Elizabeth Burgess, a teacher of Hoke County High School, attended a special seminar for yearbook staffs in Winston-Salem last weekend. The seminar was designed to teach yearbook staffs and advisors new ideas in editing and development.
