Church met at the church Monday
night with very good attendance.
At Parker Church there was a large
crowd for Sunday School although
there was no preaching there on the
fifth Sunday.
A former pastor of Tabernacle
Church, the Rev. D. E. Miller and
Mrs. Miller of Fayetteville were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. I, Brock
Sunday afternoon.
E. T. Brock's brother, Walter
Brock, who has been a patient at
; Moore Memorial Hospital for some
; time got home Sunday.

Adams of Vienna, Va., spent a few
days over the past weekend with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. C. English.

Mr. and Mrs. Wesley McKeithan
and daughter Sarah of Pittsburgh,
Pa., and Mr. and Mrs. Willie
McKeithan of Fayetteville were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
McKeithan for a while Monday
evening.
Jennie Monroe, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Monroe left Tuesday
for East Carolina University,
Greenville, where die will be a
student. Her roommate will be Robin
Maxwell of Raeford.
Joe Lovette was admitted to
Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville, last
Saturday in critical condition.
Mrs. Nelia Brock is about over the
accident that hurt her shoulder, and
it is news that she had no news this
week.
Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson spent Friday
night and Saturday with her sister
Mrs. W. H. Schell of Lumber Bridge.
Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Gibson, Joy
and Ricky, went to Carolina Beach
the past weekend.
When C. M. Chason was at Holden
Beach he caught his first salt water
fish. He had caught many fish before
but this was the first out of the

Boyd Hudson of Spring Lake, was
dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Caddis
and sons, Ricky, Tom and Danny,
Sunday.
Ricky Caddis, student at
Pembroke University spent the
weekend with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Aubrey Caddis and his brothers.
Keith Hawkes returned home last
Sunday after visiting his folks in
Victoria, Texas, for a while after his
mother's death.

According to Mrs. Jesse Lee
everything is going on well at
Rockfish Family Care Home. Mr. and
Mrs. Lee and their son, Leroy and
her father-in-law, Malcolm Lee,
returned home Monday after
spending the weekend at Petersburg,
Va., with her brother and his wife,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones. While
there they went Fishing and caught a
lot of nice Fish. After Mrs. Clara
Sanderson came Mrs. Lee had a full
house.
Jamie Berry, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Daniel Berry, spent Friday night with
his grandfather, Alfred Berry, and his
uncle, Oscar G. Berry.
On Saturday pjn.,0. C. Berry and
his father, Alfred Berry, attended a
barbeque cook-out at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Berry.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cecil ot
Arabia visited his grandfather, Alfred
Berry, for a short time Monday p.m.
Paula Kay Berry of Raeford visited
her grandfather, Alfred Berry,
Monday night.
Mrs. Chandler Roberts and Mrs.
Floyd Monroe visited Mrs. Roberts'
husband at Veterans Hospital,
Fayetteville, and saw Mrs. Joe
Lovette to ask about her husband
who is a patient there, and they also
visited Mrs. Will Monroe at
Highsmigh-Rainey Memorial Hospital
and found her doing fairly well
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Long of
Sneads Ferry spent Saturday night
with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Long.
Fred English had a few days at
home over the Labor Day weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith Mclnnis were
dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. James
E. Mclnnis of Fayetteville Sunday
and from there they went to Raleigh
to visit their son-inJaw and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. David Lancaster and
children, Brian and Jennifer.
Mrs. Jim Maxwell spent the
afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Max
Ray of Puppy Creek.
J. W. Caddell, son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. W. Caddell of Raeford, was sick at
their home over the past weekend
with a virus.

Raeford visited their son-in-law and

OVERFLOWING - Patrons of the Raeford Recreation Center, criticized in
recent weeks for not depositing litter properly, point to this overflowing bin
maintained by the city which was not emptied and rendered useless Friday.
Six Wrecks Reported
!No traltic latalities were reported
in the county over the long Labor
Day holiday period but the highway
patrol reported six wrecks, one of
which hospitalized a Five Points
man.
Trooper K.W. Weston said Harry
D. Thornberg, Rt. 3, was a passenger
in a ear operated by Benjamin
Ellington. McCain, about 7:30 P.M.
Saturday night when the car went
out of control on RPR 1215 and
overturned.
Thornberg was hospitalized at
Moore Memorial Hospital with a
broken jaw, ruptured eardrum, and
cuts, Weston said.
The car, a Vega, was a total loss,
Weston said. Ellington was cited for
driving left of center.
An unidentified man received
minor injuries in a one car wreck

Cystic Fibrosis
Week Sept. 7
Mrs. Tom McBryde was named
Raeford area chairman for the cystic
fibrosis camp anal which is designated
"Kiss Your Baby" by the cystic
fibrosis foundation.
Funds will be solicited during ute
week of Sept. 7-14 and a special
proclamation recognizing the
campaign was issued by Raeford
mayor John K. McNeill. Jr.
The campaign is designed to alert
parents to the signs of lung-damaging
diseases and collect funds to support
programs at teaching, care, and
research centers throughout the
United States.
