Brantly Clark started the scoring off for the Bucks as he took a recovered fumble 52 yards for a touchdown with 5:08 remaining in the first quarter. A two point conversion attempt by quarterback David Howell was no good and Hoke held a 6-0 lead. Good defensive play bysuch players as Mike Mcintosh and Larry Purcell kept the Devil's from scoring. In the third quarter Leonard Everette scored for the Bucks with :59 showing on the clock. A 30 yard pass play set up the touchdown as McNeill hit receiver Jay Hottel. The two point conversion was good and Hoke had a 14-0 lead going into the fourth quarter. Fumbles and penalties slowed action in the last quarter as Hoke held on for the win. The next Jaycee game will be at Sanford September 25. CC Team PlacesThird The Hoke High cross country team finished third in their first meet of the season in a match pitting them against Richmond, Sanford, and Lumberton. Hoke's Robert Malloy finished second overall widi a time of 15:11 over the 2.54 mile course behind William Whitley of Richmond who had a time of 14:20. Richmond had six runners in the top ten finishers to capture the victory. Sanford placed three in the top ten and Hoke one. Scores for the meet were: Richmond 25. Sanford 4b. For those of you who didn't drown going to the football game Friday night which was called off, and were able to go to the game on Monday night, you really saw the Bucks in action. The Varsity Bucks trampled the Red Springs Red Devils, 21-0. With everyone afraid of another rained out ballgame, dte Bucks didn't waste much time in putting two touchdowns 011 the scoreboard and making die extra points making the score 14-0, at halftime. Keeping the Red Devils from making any touchdowns throughout the game the Bucks put the finishing touches 011 the ballgame by making a touchdown and extra point in the fourth quarter, rapping up the game lor die Bucks, and leaving die Red Devils still wondering, 'what happened?' back in the first quarter. The Bucks are now 2-1 and playing great so everybody come out again next Friday, September 26 and support the Varsity Bucks when diey host Sanford at home. The Junior Varsity Bucks gave Red Springs another beating by defeating die JF Red Devils, 14-0. The Junior Varsity are 2-0 so far this year and playing tremendous football. They're the Varsity Bucks of next year, so go out to their football games and give them some support. The senior environmental pictures came back last week and the seniors had a short assembly Monday morning to discuss related matters and get their pictures. Everyone was pleased with the overall quality of the pictures, (but like Mr. Edwards said, the people who took die pictures weren't miracle workers and could touchup the seniors' pictures only so much.) Not much was happening in the various club activities this week. DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) had a meeting last Wednesday to elect officers for the 1975-1976 school year and to discuss plans and activities for this year. The new advisor of DECA is Mr. Robert Averettc since Mr. Steed has been made an assistant principal. New officers arc Glendia Black, president; Gloriy Smith, vice - president; Madelyn Miller, secretary; Shirley Baldwin, treasurer: and Jan Dial, historian. Various activities they are planning are to attend the State Fair in Raleigh in October, enter the Job Interviewing Contest, plan a Parent-Teacher night at school, and select a new Miss DECA to compete on the district level when DECA attends the District Convention in October. The next meeting for DECA is October I. The Key Club met last Wednesday also, to discuss the selection of new members for this school year. Mr. Willet Bissett is the advisor. Officers are Henry Hosteller, president; Wally Jordan, vice ? president; Kevin Turner, secretary ; and Steve Morgan, treasurer. The Pep Club did a great job Monday night cheering the Bucks to victory but we still need to see some support from everybody for the Bucks.
