Jayvees
Win, 14-0
The Hoke High Junior Varsity
football team captured their second
straight win of the season last
Thursday night in Red Springs by
^ beating the Junior Devils 14-0.
Brantly Clark started the scoring
off for the Bucks as he took a
recovered fumble 52 yards for a
touchdown with 5:08 remaining in
the first quarter. A two point
conversion attempt by quarterback
David Howell was no good and Hoke
held a 6-0 lead.
Good defensive play bysuch
players as Mike Mcintosh and Larry
Purcell kept the Devil's from scoring.
In the third quarter Leonard
Everette scored for the Bucks with
:59 showing on the clock. A 30 yard
pass play set up the touchdown as
McNeill hit receiver Jay Hottel. The
two point conversion was good and
Hoke had a 14-0 lead going into the
fourth quarter.
Fumbles and penalties slowed
action in the last quarter as Hoke
held on for the win.
The next Jaycee game will be at
Sanford September 25.

The Bucks did it again! For those
of you who didn't drown going to the
football game Friday night which
was called off, and were able to go to
the game on Monday night, you
really saw the Bucks in action. The
Varsity Bucks trampled the Red
Springs Red Devils, 21-0. With
everyone afraid of another rained out
ballgame, dte Bucks didn't waste
much time in putting two
touchdowns 011 the scoreboard and
making die extra points making the
score 14-0, at halftime. Keeping the
Red Devils from making any
touchdowns throughout the game
the Bucks put the finishing touches
011 the ballgame by making a
touchdown and extra point in the
fourth quarter, rapping up the game
lor die Bucks, and leaving die Red
Devils still wondering, 'what
happened?' back in the first quarter.
The Bucks are now 2-1 and
playing great so everybody come out
again next Friday, September 26 and
support the Varsity Bucks when diey
host Sanford at home.
The Junior Varsity Bucks gave
Red Springs another beating by
defeating die JF Red Devils, 14-0.
The Junior Varsity are 2-0 so far this
year and playing tremendous
football. They're the Varsity Bucks
of next year, so go out to their
football games and give them some
support. The Junior Varsity will be
away next Thursday September 25,
playing Sanford.

The senior environmental pictures
came back last week and the seniors
had a short assembly Monday
morning to discuss related matters
and get their pictures. Everyone was
pleased with the overall quality of
the pictures, (but like Mr. Edwards
said, the people who took die
pictures weren't miracle workers and
could touchup the seniors' pictures
only so much.)
Not much was happening in the
various club activities this week.
DECA (Distributive Education Clubs
of America) had a meeting last
Wednesday to elect officers for the
1975-1976 school year and to discuss
plans and activities for this year. The
new advisor of DECA is Mr. Robert
Averettc since Mr. Steed has been
made an assistant principal. New
officers arc Glendia Black, president;
Gloriy Smith, vice - president;
Madelyn Miller, secretary; Shirley
Baldwin, treasurer: and Jan Dial,
historian. Various activities they are
planning are to attend the State Fair
in Raleigh in October, enter the Job
Interviewing Contest, plan a
Parent-Teacher night at school, and
select a new Miss DECA to compete
on the district level when DECA
attends the District Convention in
October. The next meeting for
DECA is October I.
The Key Club met last Wednesday
also, to discuss the selection of new
members for this school year. Mr.
Willet Bissett is the advisor. Officers
are Henry Hosteller, president; Wally
Jordan, vice ? president; Kevin
Turner, secretary ; and Steve Morgan,
treasurer.
The Pep Club did a great job
Monday night cheering the Bucks to
victory but we still need to see some
support from everybody for the
Bucks. Come out to the ballgame
next Friday night ready to
yell GO BUCKS!!!
