The wedding is * planned for November 23, at 3:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church. The bride-elect, a 1974 graduate of Hoke County High School, is employed by Marks Food Store. Mr. Dore is employed at Knit-Away Inc. Woman's Club Public Affairs Dept The Public Affairs Department of the Raeford Woman's Club met Thursday night of last week at the home of Miss Josephine Hall. Mrs. Jack Pope, program chairman, introduced the guest speaker, Henry Oxendine of Pembroke. Mr. Oxendine, a graduate of Pembroke State U. who is doing research on Indian heritage through the Lumbee Regional Development Association, gave an account of the past and of the future hopes of the estimated 35,000 to 40,000 Lumbec Indians living in Robeson and ajoining counties. Mrs. Crawford Thomas Jr., Woman's Club president, was a guest. She spoke briefly on matters concerning plans for coming events. Refreshments were served after the business meeting. Mrs. Lowe, Miss Poole Hostesses Sat. Mrs. Hugh Lowe and Miss Maude Poole were hostesses for a brunch and bridge party Saturday morning at Mrs. Walker's. Arrangements of chrysanthemums, roses and camellias were used in the entertaining rooms and on the seven tables. After the 11:00 brunch bridge was played. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. T.B. Lester for high score and to Mrs. Ransom Buacotn for runner-up. UDC Meets With Mrs. Warner Mrs. J.L. Warner was hostess Friday afternoon to members of the Raeford Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Floyd Monroe presided for the meeting. Reports were given by members who attended the N.C. Division Convention which was held last week in Fayetteville. They reported that the Raeford Chapter was awarded a superior rating. During the meeting members discussed the Chapter bicentennial project, a North Carolina Historical marker on the site of the old Raeford Institute. Records and pictures of that era were shown. Miss Sarah Lytch, program chairman, had as her subject Foreigners in the Confederacy. Mrs. Wallace McLean was presented a going - away gift. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Members were asked to meet with Mrs. Herman Koonce and Mrs. George Monroe in November. br,dge Mrs Wright Mrs. Julian Wright was bridge club hostess on Thursday night at her home on Central Ave. She served homemade lime sherbet, chocolate cake and coffee when guests arrived, and candy, fruit, nuts, cheese crackers and gingerale during the evening. Mrs. Robert Holcombe and Mrs. Charles Morrison were visitors. Mrs. June Johnson won the club high score prize and Mrs. Morrison was winner of the visitor's prize.
