Fish Fry The men of the Lumber Bridge Volunteer Fire Department served a fish dinner Saturday night to the Ladies Auxiliary. A large crowd attended and the meal was really a treat. George Cheney will speak on "Values Grandparents Have To Give". Each member is asked to bring a very old or a homemade toy to display. Prizes will be given for the oldest and the best homemade toy. Members who were absent or who forgot to bring a shower gift for the Vietnamese family are reminded to bring an item to the meeting. Miss Huff and Mr. Robert Pecora were dinner guests of Misses Ida, Sallie, and Johnny Graves Saturday evening. Mrs. Dan Hagan's mother, Mrs. Hunter Carrol has been ill for the past week but has improved. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Butler spent the weekend at Carolina Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Graves and grandson Bill, of Laurinburg visited Mr. Graves' sisters, and brother Misses Ida, Sallie and Johnny Graves Sunday afternoon. Mclnnis No news from Tabernacle Church this week except attendance is still very good at the nuoning and evening services on Sunday and the attendance at prayer meeting has improved in recent weeks. Harvest Day at Pittman Grove Church last Sunday was a success in every way. with a bountiful picnic dinner, a large crowd, with visitors from Florida, Pembroke, Apex and FayetteviUe, and a former pastor the Rev. C.E. Taylor and his granddaughter Faye Quick of Lumber Bridge as their special guests. The time of services at Parker Chruch will be changed for the next two months beginning next Sunday Nov. 2, and preaching will be at 11 o'clock and Sunday School at 9:45. The Homecoming at Galatia Church last Sunday was a success in every way. F.C.H Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lee, Mrs. Janie Shaw, Mrs. Ada Jackson and Miss Clara Sanders and Mrs. Lee's sister, Mrs. Isabella Edwards, of New Bern who is visiting Mrs. Lee and a number of other members of Whispering Pines Church went to Dunn to the home of Eddie Hayes, who has been an invalid for 24 years to celebrate his birthday with a dinner and religious services, including singing and sermon by the preacher. After coming home they went to visit Mr. and Mrs. Carl Boahn of Puppy Creek and held religious services with them. P.S. This was Mrs. Edwards birthday too and both the honorees received gifts and may they have many more happy birthdays. They went to Lynchburg and Danville, Va., and saw the colorful scenery all along the way and the mountains were very beautiful at that time. Jean and Randy had the pleasure of staying with their grandparents Mr. and Mr?. Martin Wood while their parents were away, so they all had a nice weekend. Mrs. Ann Leeton spent from Tuesday to Friday last week with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Tilley of Durham.
