Mrs. Carlton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 Brown - Brown Vows Spoken Miss Cynthia La Rue Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Brown of Lumber Bridge and Sgt. Billy D. Brown of Arlington, Virginia, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey A. Brown of Augusta. Arkansas, were united in marriage on Saturday evening, October 25 at seven o'clock in a candlc light ceremony at the Parkton Baptist Church, Parkton. The Rev. David A. Roberts officiated at the double ring ccremony. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. David Parnell, organist, of Parkton. Members of the church choir sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord's Prayer." The vows were spoken before the altar which was decorated with one double branched and two seven branched candelabras centered with arrangements of large white mums. An arrangement of yellow and gold, daisies and mums centered tfle altar. Lighted candles were placed in the windows throughout die sanctuary. The bride given in marriage by her Vat her, wore a formal gown of Angclskin peau de soic highlighted by lacc appliques with sequin ccnters. The gown was styled with empire waist, Victorian neckline and full length chapel train. The Tiaricap and full length veil was trimmed in matching lace with scattered lace and sequin appliques. She carried a bouquet of carnations and daisies centered with a white orchid with lacc streamers. Miss Jacquc Brown of Red Springs served as her sister's maid of honor. She wore a floor length gown of burnt orange polyester and nylon knit and a nylon veil covered with small velvet ribbon bows. She carried a cascade lo gold and yellow mums and daisies. Bridesmaids were Miss Pamela Sumner of Lumber Bridge. Mrs. Vickie Hagcns of Parkton, Miss Arlcne Locklcar of Baltimore, Maryland and Mrs. Marie Kcm of Lighthouse Point, Florida. Miss Teresa Brown of St. Pauls, niece of the bride was junior bridesmaid. She wore a floor length gown of white polyester knit with orange ribbons and bows. Miss Andrea Lamont of Lumber Bridge, niecc of the bride, was flower girl and wore a gown identical to the attendants. Michael Hyatt of Red ' Springs was ring bearer. Sgt. Bruce Dunham of Ft. Myer, Virginia, served as best man, and ushers were Don Brown of St. Pauls, brother of the bride, Andy Lamont t of Lumber Bridge, brother - in - law of the bride. Sgt. Richard Hatfield of Ft. Mycr, Virginia and Gene Robinson of Red Springs. Junior groomsman was Johnny Karshner of St. Pauls. The bride is a graduate of Parkton High School and Pembroke State University. Sgl. lirown graduated from Augusta High School and Mrs. Billy D. Brown attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is presently stationed at Ft. Myer, Virginia, and a sentinel at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After the first of the year they wUI make their home in Arkansas. Following the wedding, parents ol the bride entertained at a reception at the Main NCO Club. Ft. Bragg. Bridge Mrs Carter Mrs. Bobby Carter was hostess to her bridge club last Thursday evening, with Mrs. Luke McNeill, the only visitor. A dessert course was served before the game, with an iced drink and nuts later during play. Mrs. John Campbell was high scorer for the evening. Mrs Gibson Mrs. Bobby Gibson entertained her bridge club at her home in the Antioch Community on Thursday evening of last week. Guests were served a dessert course on arrival, and refreshments during progression. Guests other than members were Mrs. Earl Fowler, Mrs. Bobby Wright and Mrs. George Wood. Prizes for high scorer went to Mrs. Richard Morgan and visitors high to Mrs. Wood. Mrs. FitzSimons Mrs. A.R. FitzSimons was hostess to the members of her bridge club on Tuesday evening of last week. Guests other ihan members were Mrs. Joe Hoffman and Mrs. David S. Currie. A dessert course was served before the game and during play candy and Cokes were served. High score prize went lo Mrs. W.S. Hood and visitor's high to Mrs. Currie. Mrs. Davis Mrs. Carson Davis Jr. enter tained bridgf club members and two visitors, Mrs. Ed Brown and Mrs. Howard Carroll, on Thursday evening at her home on Fulton St. She served dessert and coffee when guests arrived and candies, pretzels and sweet cider during the game. Mrs. Charles Clark won the high score prize. Mrs. Brown the bingo prize, and Mrs. William T. Niven the consolation. ingogement Announced Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rogers Oj Hendersonville. N.C. announce the engagement of their daughter. Harriet Melanie. to Thomas Calvin Wilson of Austell. Georgia. Mr. Wilson is the son of Mrs. T.C. Wilson and the late Major Wilson of Hertford. N.C. He is the grandson of Mrs. Joe Gulledge and the late Mr. Gulledge of Raeford. The wedding will take place in April. Clark Reunion Friends and relatives of Miss Jane Clark of Rt. 1, Raeford. gathered at her home last Sunday tor their annual family reunion. A picnic dinner was served to ap proximately seventy five.
