Area Incidents Two Jailed In Holdup ' A young Lumberton man has been charged with armed robbery and is being held under a $25,000 bond in connection with the hold-up of the County Line Grocery last Friday night. Sheriff D. M. Barrington said that a call was received from A. B. Henderson Friday night, , Nov. 7, about 11:15 P.M., reporting that he had been robbed. Barrignton gave this account: Henderson was in the store alone except for two boys stocking the cooler. A man came into the store with a doth wrapped around his head and his right arm. A rifle, appearing to be a .22 caliber, was wrapped -with the cloth also. lite man told Henderson it was a hold-up. Henderson dropped about $1,000 on the floor at the end of the counter. The man told him to give him the money in the register and to "hurry up". The man got approximately $755.00 from the register and turned to leave. Henderson took out a .25 caliber pistol, pointed it at the man, and pulled the trigger, buth the gun did ?ot go off. Kenneth Brewer, 18, of Rt. 7, Box 494, Lumberton, was arrested in connection with the robbery, 1 Monday,Nov. 10,said Barrington. He said Lennie Locklear, 17, of Rt. 4, Box 876, Red Springs, is also under a heavy bond as a material witness. The rifle used in the hold-up has not been found, he said. Barrington also reported that deputies received a call reporting that a break-in was taking place at the home of Jimmie E. Jude, of Rt. 2, Box 184, Raeford, Friday, Nov. 7? about 12:30 P.M. Barrington said a man was caught near some stolen property valued at between $700 and SI,000 in a wooded area near the home, and he offered no resistance. Barney T. Caddie, 20, of 2068 Seneca Drive, Fayetteville has been charged with felonious breaking and entering and larceny and receiving and is being held under $5,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing, according to Barrington. Barrignton said entry was made by breaking the glass on a door. A warrant has been issued for another suspect involved in the break-in, he said. In other incidents, Billy Monroe reported that someone took six tires and rims valued at $240 from Monroe Motor Company, Monday, Nov. 3. Bill Upchurch complained that someone took a boat valued at $150 from the Upchurch property near Williamsons pond Saturday, Nov. 1. Dougald McDougald,, of Rt. 1, Raeford, reported that someone took guns and accessories valued at $1,324 from his house Wednesday, Nov. 5. Gary Southern, of 815 E. Donaldson Ave., Raeford, reported that someone took his bicycle from the Upchurch School Wednesday, Nov. 5. The bicycle was valued at $75. J.O. Harmon, of Rt. 4, Fayetteville, complained that someone broke into his house sometime Wednesday, Nov. 5, and did S1S0 in damages. Nothing was reported stolen. H. R. McLean reported that someone broke in at the McLean Farm sometime Wednesday, Nov. 5, and took a lawnmower valued at S82. Police have questioned suspects but no arrests have been made in connection with last week's break - in at Hoke Drug store in which a quanity of narcotics were taken. Police chief Leonard Wiggins said Hoke Drug manager Mike Wood reported $716 worth of drugs and syringes was discovered gone last Wednesday morning when he opened the store. The break ? in was made through the roof of the building, Wiggins said. Wood said morphine tablets, codeine, and Demorol were taken, along with certain barbituates and amphetamines. Nothing else in the store was apparently disturbed. In other incidents, Cato's apparel shop on Main St. was hit by thieves sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning, Wiggins reported. Cato manager Mrs. JJ. McNeill discovered three leather womerii ooats worth $346 were taken, and a pile of leathers was found stacked near the door which the thieves apparently didn't have time to remove, Wiggins said. Entry to the shop was made through the roof, according to police. The investigation is continuing. Charles M. Orem, Rt. 3, Box 361-E, Fayetteville, complained to police his car was broken into while parked at the Knit - Away lot Friday night and reported stolen is a tape player worth $35. Also, Jimmy Harrell, 406 Weaver St., Raeford, reported his car was entered and a $150CB radio unit taken. Police investigated a break ? in at the home of Jimmy Sessoms, 710 Niven St., after Sessoms daughter reported surprising an intruder when she returned home about 7:30 P.M. One suspect fled and apparently nothing was taken, police said. George Freeman, of Bill's Car Wash on 401 ? Bypass, notified police an alarm on a money box at the washing area sounded about 2 P.M. Nov. 6 and a vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. An undetermined amount of money was missing. Two suspects described as white males are being sought, according to police. Jimmy McPhaul, 816 E. Donaldson Ave., complained to police a girl's bike worth $110 was stolen from the porch of his home sometime Sunday afternoon.
