Mr*. Cvtton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 Miss Marks Is Shower Honoree Miss Elaine Marks was honored with a floating bridal Aower at the home of Mrs. Betty Conoly, Tuesday. Nov. 18. Hostesses were Mrs. Conoly, Mrs. Shuford Pennell, Mrs. Wilton Wood and Mrs. Otis Webb. Approximately 30 guests attended American Music Featured At Chammade Club Meet The Chaminade Music Club held its monthly meeting in the Raeford Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. H.R. McLean, program leader, introduced the Hymn of the Month, "God of Our Fathers" (National Hymn), which was then sung by club members, accom panied by Mrs. Steve Hedgpeth. The program began with a piano duo of American Music by Mrs. Hugh Lowe and Mrs. J.H. Austin. Selections included, "The Star Spangled Banner" by Francis Scott Key, "Arkansas Traveler" ar ranged by Lee Patterson, and "Pavanne" by Morton Gould. Continuing with American music, a club ensemble, under the direction of Miss Maude Poole, entertained the group with selec tions of "Summertime" by George Gershwin and "Set Down Ser vant", arranged by Robert Shaw. Soloists for the ensemble were Mrs. Julius Jordan and Mrs. L.S. Brock Jr. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Fred Culbreth, Mrs. J.H. Austin, Miss Mary Hazel Whitley and Mrs. P.O. Lee. During the brief business ses sion, Mrs. Archie Howard, presi dent, reported that at district conference in Smithfield, an award of merit was presented to the Chaminade Music Club and Radio Station WSHB for outstanding participation in National Music Week tor the year 1975. Bridal Shower For Miss Kirkley Miss Angela Joy Kirkley of Raeford was honored with a bridal shower Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Aubrey Gaddis. The host esses, Mrs. Doris Costin and Mrs. Gaddis served punch, cake, nuts, and cheese rings to the 11 guests. The honoree received a variety of lovely gifts. Littrell - Kairaj Miss Neva Kairaj, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kumpong Kairaj of Ubob, Thailand, and Sgt. Michael R. Littrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Littrell of Route 1, Red Springs, were married October 25 in Bangkok, Thailand. The post chaplain officiated for the cere mony in the presence of friends and relatives of tnl bridal couple. After the ceremony, the bride and groom phoned his parents in Red Springs. The bride was graduated from Santa Cruz Convent in Bangkok. Sgt. Littrell is a 1971 graduate of Red Springs High School, and has since served with the U.S. Air Force in the security division of law enforcement. The newlyweds are expected to arrive in January for a visit with his parents. After a vacation in the state, they will make their home at Boiling AFB, Washington, D.C., where Sgt. Littrell will be stationed. Bridge Mrs McLeod Mrs. Benny McLeod entertained bridge club members and other guests Thursday at her home on N. Main St. Guests to the club were Mrs. David Sease, Mrs. J.H. Austin, Mrs. David Russell, Mrs. Crawford Thomas Jr., Mrs. Luke McNeill and Mrs. Phillip Nordan. Three tables were arranged in the living room where the hostess served dessert and coffee. During the evening she served Cokes, candy and nuts. Prizes went to Mrs. W.T. Niven for club high score, to Mrs. McNeill for guest prize, and to Mrs. Sam Copper for binao. RECEIVES AWARD- Charlotta King, senior at Hoke County High School, is being presented the Daughters Of The American Revo lution Good Citizen s pin by Mrs. Laurie McEachern of the Upper Cape Fear Chapter of DAR. Red Springs. The award is given annu ally to an outstanding high school senior based on dependability, service and patriotism. Saturday. November 15th. Charlotta was the guest of the district DAR in Wadesboro. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George King of McMillan Street.
