Bragg serviceman Corwin (Corky) Keaffaber, who Tiled a complaint and notice of summary ejectment Friday in magistrates court against his room er, Mrs. Jamie Donaldson. Keaffaber, and his wife Audrey, live with his parents and several small children in a rented house near the Puppy Creek fire station. "I rented the room along about May, and one by one she started bringing the cats inside. She's had them living in there since July", Keaffaber said. Keaffaber said he couldn't enter the room because a large German shepherd is also kept inside and he was fearful for his children's safety. Mrs. Donaldson also owns other dogs which are kept in a pen outdoors, he said. It was impossible to make an exact count, he said, but Keaffaber stated in the written complaint that he knew of 40 Siamese cats to be living in the room. "I have had as much as I can take. I have asked her over and over to move and she won't. I've been around in a big circle, my mother has called the health de partment, they said call social services, the social services said call School Menu Monday, Dec. 1 Hot Dog in Bun W/Chili Slaw - C Fluffy Potatoes - C Fresh Apple or Applesauce Tuesday, Dec. 2 Spaghetti W/Meat Sauce -A Cheese Wedge Steamed Cabbage -C Peach Half Butter Cookie Rolls or Cornbread Milk Wednesday, Dec. 3 Tuna Salad on Lettuce Potato Chips Carrot Stick -A Pineapple Cake Bread Milk Thursday, Dec. 4 Beef Vegetable Soup A,C Crackers Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Doughnuts or Cinnamon Buns Vi orange - C Milk College News The Wake Forest University women's varsity volleyball team, of which Kelly Jordan is a member, was undefeated at the Southern Regionals of the AIAW held Nov. 20-22 at Memphis State University. It was the first time that anybody told us just what we could do Keaffaber said. County sanitarian M.R. Mills and assistant sanitarian Lawrence Caviness viewed the room Friday. "I've seen enough, close the door". Mills said after he smelled the odor. "It's terrible. What with all these young children in the house, that kind of filth", he said. Mills told Mrs. Donaldson that to have that many animals in a room was unsanitary and a danger ous health hazard and she told nim that she was going to be moving as soon as she found a place. "I know I'll have to move. I'll be moving. I may get a four room place in Hope Mills", she said. Mrs. Donaldson said she "had to" keep the cats inside because they became sick when they were left in a barn. "I've got $1.000 in those cats and they can't be left outdoors in the cold", she said. Mrs. Donaldson was reluctant to speak to a reporter who accom panied Mills and Caviness, and firmly denied there was any odor. "Of course there are litter trays, I change them every morning and every night. Would you like to come out and help me? What odor? I buy OdorBan, it costs me a lot of money, and there isn't any smell", she said. When asked how many cats lived in the room, she said "about 32". "Would you like to go in there and count them? Go in and count, if the shepherd will let you", she added. "If the humane society knew about this, they'd be out here in a minute, you know". Mills said. Mrs. Donaldson said none of the cats living in the room was sick, but Caviness said later he saw mange present. "I know, I have to live in there, too", she said when Mills empha sized the unsanitary condition. Mrs. Donaldson said that the cats were not breeding in the room and said the very young kittens were brought in from the barn. "I used to be, (a professional cat breeder) but since I've been work ing at Ft. Bragg, it's just something to supplement my income, I don't make much money", she said.
