Mrs. C?rlton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 Dore - Marks Wedding Held Here Sunday miss Mary Elaine Marks, (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thad Marks, and Edward A. Dore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dore of Branford, Conn., were united in marriage Sunday, November 23, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church. Officiating at the double ring ceremony was the Rev. Jack Mansfield. Wedding music was presented by Will Gillis of Fayetteville, organist, and Don Brock of Raeford who sang, "The Twelfth of Never" and "The Wedding Prayer". Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of sata peau made with high neckline on the fitted bodice and lantern sleeves. Chantilly lace ruffles, edged with yenise lace, adorned the bodice in T?b effect and the same lace combination was used around the natural waistline and on the sleeves. The full skirt, which k extended into a chapel train, was bordered at the hemline with a flounce edged with lace. Her fingertip mantilla was bordered with chantilly lace and overlaid with an illusion blusher. She carried a nosegay of pink rosebuds, baby's breath and white mums. Matron of honor was the bride's sister, Mrs. Harold Holcomb of Raeford. She wore a lilac gown and matching picture hat and carried a purple-centered white mum with streamers. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Larry Dore of Branford. Conn., Lynn Flinchum of Aberdeen, and Miss Shirley Poe, Mrs. Bobby Posey and Mrs. Buddy Dunn, all of Raeford. They wore purple gowns with matching picture hats and carried white mums/centered with purple. Melissa Hinnant of Goldsboro was flower girl. She wore a gown made like that of the honor attendant and carried a basket ot mixed flowe.rs. Mr. Dore was his son's best man. Ushers were Larry Dore and Cliff Dore of Branford, Conn., Larry Bobbitt of Aberdeen, and Harold Holcomb. Wilbur Marks and Bobby Posey, all of Raeford. Following the ceremony, a re ception was held in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. W. A. Long of Raeford served the five-tiered wedding cake and Mrs. David Bobbitt of Aber deen poured punch. ' For travel the bride wore a blue pantsuit and a corsage of pink roses. Upon their return from a wedding trip to Connccticutt. the newlyweds will be at home on Crawford St. The bride is a graduate of Hoke County High School. The bride groom is employed by Knit-Away Inc. ?** The parents of the bridegroom entertained the bridal party with a buffet supper Saturday evening at the home of the bridal couple. ??? Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hinnant Bridal Shower For Miss Martha Ann Hendrix, December bride-elect, was honored with a bridal shower in the Sandy Grove Methodist Church annex on Wednesday evening. November 19. Hostesses were Mrs. Roy Heyward, Mrs. John Allen Jones. Mrs. Frank Davis and Mrs. Wendell Quick. The honoree was given a corsage of gold and bronze mums tied with yellow ribbon, and a shower of miscellaneous gifts. The bride's table, covered with an antique lace cloth over green. Miss Hendrix featured crystal hurricane candles, wedding bells, and bronze and yellow mums. Bridal cakes, nuts and mints were served by the hostesses. Mrs. Brown Hendrix, the bride-elect's mother, presided at the punch bowl. Farewell Honor For Mrs. Kilby Mrs. Alfred K. Leach and Mrs. James McBryde entertained with a bridge luncheon Saturday as an honor for Mrs. Bobby Kilby who is moving to South Boston, Va. Fall flowers decorated the Leach home. Small baskets filled with dried flowers marked places for 12 guests at three tables. The hostesses gave Mrs. Kilby a gift of linen. Bridge prizes went to Mrs. Mike Wood for high score and to Mrs. Dave Russell for second high. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Jordan of Charlotte, will spend Thanksgiving Day with his parents. Dr. and Mrs. R.M. Miss Lentz Feted At Bridal Shower Miss Kay Lentz, bride-elect of Phillip McMillan, was honored with a miscellaneous shower Wed nesday evening of last week. Mrs. Robert Cox and Mrs. Maggie Cox entertained at the Robert Cox home. Yellow mums centered the re freshment table which was spread with a white - embroidered green cloth. Punch, pound cake, cheese biscuits, nuts and mints were served. Before she opened her shower of gifts, the hostesses presented Miss Lentz with a corsage of mums. Gibson - Little Lt. Col. and Mrs. Henry L. Gibson of Hampton, Va., an nouncement the engagement of their daughter, Sheila Rene', to 2nd Lt. Bobby Anthony Little, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Little of Raeford. Miss Gibson is a senior mass media arts major at Hampton Institute, Virginia. Lt. Little, a 1975 graduate of Hampton Institute, is presently assigned to the Infantry Officer Base Course at Ft. Benning. Ga. the wedding date is set for December 27. -Stork Shower For Mrs. Calloway Mrs. Viola Fulk, Mrs. Waylon Fulk, Mrs. Lide Rogers. Mrs. Larry Calloway and Mrs. Raymond Ellis were hostesses for a stork shower for Mrs. Shelby Calloway on Sunday night at the home of Mrs. Viola Fulk. Upon her arrival the honoree was presented a corsage of yellow carnations. The 16 guests played several games. The refreshment table was covered with white lace underlaid with green and centered African violets. Using a color note of green and yellow, the refreshments carried out the stork theme. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Bass of Fayetteville will be Thanksgiving guests of Mr. and Mrs. Worth Graham. Miss Susan McBryde of Raleigh, is spending Thanksgiving Day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson McBryde. idge Mrs Johnson Bridge club members and two visitors, Mrs. George Wood and Mrs. Willis Hood met wth Mrs. June Johnson on Thursday night. The hostess served dessert and coffee when guests arrived and punch and chips during play. Mrs. Berder Niven won the club high score prize and Mrs. Hood was winner of the guest prize. Mrs. Wood received the bingo award. Mrs Dhilllps Mrs. Steve Phillips was bridge club hostess Tuesday evening of last week. She invited guests to serve themselves to confections and Cokes during the game. Prizes went to Mrs. Hank Richards for high score and to Mrs. Ricky English for consolation. Personals Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Gatlin spent several days last week at Topsail Beach. Miss Lynn Currie of Raleigh, is spending the holidays with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Currie. Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Pickard and family of Chapel Hill, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Osborne and daughters of Fayetteville, are spending Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Birnstein. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howard left Tuesday to return to their home in Arlington. Va., after a visit with Mrs. Archie Howard. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Howell, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Shankle and Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Niven spent the weekend at Ocracoke. Miss Rosemary Inman visited friends at East Carolina U., last weekend.
