Rock fish News by Mrs. A A. Mclnnis The W.M.U. Study Course was held at Tabernacle Church Sunday night. The textbook was entitled "Seek and Ye Visited Me", taught by the pastor of the church h The Rev. Carl Strickland. "A Week of Prayer" is being observed by the W.M.U. of Tabernacle Church this week. Pittman Grove W.M.U. is also observing a week of prayer, meeting at the church each night at 7:30 and all the church will be with them Wednesday night. Chairman of the deacons A.W. Pittman was the speaker at the morning worship service at Pittman Grove Church Sunday in the absence of the pastor. The Rev. William Beasley. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Long visited Mrs. George Dees at Cape hear Nursing Center Sunday p.m. Thanksgiving guests of Mrs. R.H. Gibson, Mrs. Henry Fowler and Kathy were Mrs. Harvey Thornton and children and Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Gibson. Carol Fowler and Teresa Allen spent Thanksgiving with Sliirely and "Sandra Allen of Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Louise Watson and Miss Nellie McFadyen visited Mrs. George Dees at Cape Fear Nursing Center last Saturday. Mrs. A.W. Wood was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wood on Thanksgiving day. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Wood and daughter Deborah of Thomasville spent the past weekend with his mother, Mrs. A.W. Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pemberton of Greensboro visited Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Wood during Thanksgiving week. Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Chason had all their children and granddiildren as dinner guests on Thanksgiving day. Mrs. Tlielma Faircloth of Hope Mills and Mrs. Ada Bledso of Fayetteville visticd Mr. and Mrs. Chason and son Larry Sunday p.m. Recent guests of Mrs. Martin Wood were. Mrs. Ann Calcutt and children, Mr. and Mrs. Carol Pemberton and children and Mrs. Earl McKinnon. Mrs. Wallace McLean came Sunday and is spending a while with her cousin, Mrs. Martin Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pemberton of Greensboro visited Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Wood during the Thanksgiving holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Overton had all their children and grandchildren with them at Thanksgiving. They were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Overton and children Mark and Sherry Lynn of Fayetteville, Mr. and Mrs. Rucl Johnson and son Charles and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Guy and sons Tony and Mike. ' Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McColl and children, Tom, Kim, and Kevin had as their Thanksgiving guests, Mr. and Mrs. Butch Posey and daughter Cristi of Route 2. Raeford. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koonce had all their family together for Thanksgiving day and along with it all they celebrated their son Lacy Koonce's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Davis Parker and children Karen and Kirkland and Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Koonce and sons Lacy 111 and Thomas were all present. All of his friends and relatives wish for the honoree many more happy birthdays along with Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin English and children Sandra and Michael of Morchead City. Mr. and Mrs. Larry English of Fayetteville, and Neill English of Washington, D.C. spent Thanksgiving with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy English and Miss Frances Ellen was with Neill. Mrs. Floyd Monroe was a Thanksgiving dinner guest of Mrs. M.D. Gillis and Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Gillis. She had supper that night with Mr. and Mrs. Zan Monroe of Fayetteville. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gruilette and children of Yonkers, N.Y. came last week and spent the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood and family and other relatives. REUNION The Ellis family reunion was held at Rockfish Community House last Thursday. There was a large crowd of grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles, children and "kissing cousins" present. It was a cold day but the house was warm and comfortable and everyone seemed to be enjoying the day. The McKeithan family, Mrs. Blanche Stephens of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. William Mottley and diildren of Burkville, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Willie McKeithan and family of Fayetteville, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McKeithan, Greg and Susan, were dinner guests of Mrs. Lela McDowell, of Apex on Thanksgiving day. P.S. Mrs. Ott Jarrety of Wisconsin was also present. COMMENT We had a special day to remind us to be thankful last week, let's try to keep it up. Miss Mary Priest and Mrs. Maggie Quick visited the patients at Adcox Rest Home on Tuesday and Saturday of last week. Corrections Open House Scheduled North Carolina will observe Corrections Week Dec. 8-13 with various open houses and tours of various correctional institutions tn the state. The Hoke County probation and parole office will hold an open house during office hours Dec. 8-12 according to William T. Lester, probation officer. "The public is invited to come by and ask questions about all phases of our work," he said. The office is located on the third floor of the Hoke County Court House.
