Siacy Wells has accepted the Pastorate at Lunber Bridge Baptist Church and Rozier Baptist Church at Rennen. First and third Sundays at Rozier Church and second and fourth Sundays at Lumber Bridge. The Rev. and Mrs. Wells will live in the Parsonage at Lumber Bridge and I will move soon as painting, etc., is finished. We feel very fortunate in securing Rev. Wells and are looking foward to the first of the year. Presbyterian Church Deacons were elected during church services on Sunday. Those elected to office are: John Balfour, 3 year term, James Maxwell, Jr., for 2 years of unexpired term of the late Billy Troutman, and Julian Williford for 1 year to complete unexpired term of the late H. E. Rogers. A Christmas Party for the women of the Presbyterian Church was held Saturday afternoon at the Stamps Fellowship Hall. The ladies packed boxes of home made cookies, candy and cheeses for members who are away at college. Other boxes were packed and distributed to local residents who are either ill or unable to attend church services. Mrs. Stacy Forbes served a delicious snack for those present. There was a total of twelve boxes packed. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Lumber Bridge Vol. Fire Department held a bake sale Saturday 10-2 o'clock. Cakes sold for $10.00 and pies for $3.00. Over 300.00 was collected and we feel like this was very good. Thanks to everyone who baked for the sale and donated so many good eats. ' There were 80-85 present and special guests were the County Commissioners, Mrs. and Mrs. Mutt McNeill of Parkton, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McNeill of St. Pauls, Mr. and Mrs. Wanerly Barham of Red Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Roger F. Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Clark and President and Mrs. Craig Allen of Robeson Technical Institure, Lumberton. A delicious dinner was served consisting of turkey, fried ham and all the trimmings. Everv one oresent enjoyed the party and will be looking forward to the same next year. Njrs. Henry Bullard, with the aid of her sisters, moved their sister, Mrs. Frances Faulk, from the Cape Fear Nursing home in Fayetteville to the Open Arm's Nurang Home in Raeford last week Mrs. Jon Evans of Raleigh, son-in-law of Mrs. John Covington, has returned home from a successful operation and is improving favorably. Miss Wanda Ammons of Campbell College, Buies Creek, spent the weekend with her parents , Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Ammons and Stevie. Mrs. Henry K. Crawford has returned to her home in Rowltad after spending several weeks with her asters. Misses Lib and Lois Sumner. Miss Marion John, daughter of Mrs. Joan John, formerly of Lumber Bridge, now of St. Pauls, has returned home from Lumberton Hospital and is improving. Mrs. A. F. Tolar spent Mondav in Spring Lake with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Tolar. Mrs. Buddy Jones has returned from her stay at the Virginia Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Sumner visited Mr. and Mrs. Rick McMillan, Kimberly and Kristy Sunday night. Mrs. Martha Webb and diildren, Lynn and Gregory of Charlotte visited Mr. and Mrs. John Edwin Clifton, Jr., last week. They brought Mrs. Webb's mother, Mrs. Alice Keeter back to her home. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Clifton and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Chason in Fayetteville. Mr.- and Mrs. Rob Schock of Vanceboro and son, Jeffery spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Forbes and aunt. Miss Ruth Forbes. Mrs. Fred Harris and Mrs. Walter Thomas of Raeford visited Miss Lib Sumner Thursday afternoon. Mrs Wilbur Spears has been on the sick list. We hope that she is feeling much better. Miss Madison Campbell, who has been spending some time with her grandparents. Col. and Mrs. Fritz Weber, returned to Germany with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Campbell. Fritz Campbell remained here for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Drum of Asheville and sister, Mrs. Donnie Smith of Lumberton spent Wednesday afternoon with their sister Mis. A. F. Tolar. Sidney, Lib and Lois Sumner wisited Mr. and Mrs. Fulford McMillan Sunday afternoon.
