Area Incidents Flim-flam Victim Cited Sheriff's deputies are investigating another flim-flam that occured Friday, Dec. 5, at the home of Mary F, Murphy about 10 A.M. Mrs. Murphy let a young black woman into her home after she asked her whether she knew a person who worked at a county school, according to Deputy Alex Norton. After a series of questions involving money, and a search for her pocketbook, Mrs. Murphy reported that $45 from her billford in her pocketbook and $165 in a money bag was missing. In other incidents, Alton Cummings, Rt. 1, Red Springs, reported that someone broke into his home sometime Thursday, Dec. 4. and took a rifle and a shotgun valued at $207. Cary Thompson, Rt. 3, Red Springs, reported that someone broke into his house and took three guns and a stereo valued at $1,330 sometime Friday, Dec. 5. Albert McArns, Rt. I Shannon, reported that someone broke into his home and took a television and some beer valued at $92.10 sometime Saturday, Dec. 6. Lerow Henderson, Rt. 1, Red Springs, complained that someone broke into his house sometime Friday, Dec. 5, and took property including a shotgun valued at $75. Thomas Canada, Rt. I, Red Springs, complained that someone broke into his house sometime Friday, Dec. 5. and took a television, a gun, speakers, and a tape player worth $847. Otis Webb reported that someone broke into Webb's Tire Service sometime Thursday, Dec. 4, and took 20 tires valued at $400. John W. McRae, Rt. 3, Raeford. reported that someone broke into his garage sometime Tuesday, Dec. 2.? and look four mag rims and tires valued at S450. William C. Willis, Rt. 4, Raeford, complained that someone broke into his truck while it was parked at Puppy Creek Grocery, and took a . 12 shotgun. No value was reported. City police investigated an attempted break-in at the home of Crawford Thomas, Jr., 323 Magnolia St., Saturday morning. Thomas told police he was awakened by noise about 4:30 and after checking some time later a plexiglass window to his garage was broken. Police Chief Leonard Wiggins said apparently no entry was made and nothing is reported missing. W.D. Brown. Rt. 1. Box 403, Raeford, reported to police a battery charger was stolen from an outside storage building at his home sometime Dec. 1-2. The loss is listed as $135. TREATMENT PLANT ? Work on the water treatment complex at Dickson St. is nearing completion. This structure will house the mixing facility. Church Hosts Shopping Trip For Oldsters Seventeen residents of the Open Arms Rest Home in Raeford were able to visit Cross Creek Mall Monday through the cooperation of the Raeford Presbyterian Church's circle groups, tire Fust Baptist church and Rev. W.H. Ginn of the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church. Nine members of the Presbyterian Circle groups and lire Rev. and Mrs. Ginn took the residents on tire Baptist Church bus for the trip to the mall so they could see the decorations and look around the facility. Staff member Mrs. John Leandro said the residents had a "really good time" and said she wished to thank all people involved.
