Mrs. Carlton Niven. Social Reporter, 875-3785 Glover- Kirkley Vows Spoken Miss Angela Joy Kirkley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Kirkley of Route 4, became the bride of William Edison Glover Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Glover of Raeford, on Sunday, December 7, at 3:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jack Mansfield performed the double ring cere mony. Wedding music was presented by Janie Whitley of Salisbury, organ ist. and Lester Southern, soloist. Sheila Tew of Route 4. was matron of honor. She wore a long red satin peau dress made with stand-up collar, empire waistline and puff sleeves, and she carried a nosegay of red and white carna tions. Bridesmaids were Gay Kirkley. sister of the bride, and Sherry Shepley of Route 2. Their presses were made like the honor attendant's and they carried single white mums. Kim Lovette, niece of the bride ' groom, was flower girl. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a candlelight bridal satin gown with appliques of lace re-embroidered with seed pearls on the empire waistline and skirt which extended into a chapel train. A Camelot cap held her cathedral length veil and she carried a nosegay of red and white carnations with satin streamers tied in love knots. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Ushers were Ron Kirkley. brother of the bride, Cary Clark, Eddie Caddell and Bobbie Smith, all of Raeford. Following the wedding rehearsal Saturday night, the bride's parents entertained with a cake cutting in the church fellowship hall. The bride, a 1974 graduate of Hoke County High School, at tended UNC-Charlotte. and is a graduate of Sir Walter Beauty Academy. She is employed at Gino's Beauty Salon, Ft. Bragg. The bridegroom is a graduate of Hoke County High School and Sandhills Community College. He is employed at the A&P here. Saddle Club Has Ladies' Night Raeford Saddle Club members were hosts for a pig picking when they entertained their wives at "ladies night" Wednesday of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Huff in Ashley Heights. Twenty-two couples were present for the buffet-style meal of barbequed pigs, candied sweet potatoes, slaw and corn bread. Mrs. Millie Oliver Green of Pine Level, was here Friday and Saturday for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Walter Baker, and her nieces, Mrs. Luke McNeill and Mrs. Riley Jordan. Mrs. William Edison Glover. Jr. Woman's Club Home-Life Dept On Tuesday, December 2, (he Home Life Department of the Raeford Woman's Club held its annual Christmas buffet dinner and auction at the Hoke Civic Center with husbands of members as guests. Special guests were the Woman's Club president, Mrs. Crawford Thomas, and Mr. Thomas, and Mrs. L.M. Lester. The center was decorated in the Christmas motif with arrangements of magnolia, pine, holly berries and red candles. Mrs. Betty Knox presided and Mrs. Christiana Howell gave the devotional. Christmas items made by the members were auctioned by Clyde Knox at tire conclusion of the dinner. Proceeds of die auction will be used for service projects. Public Affairs Dept The Public Affairs Department of the Woman's Club met Tuesday evening of last week for a covered dish buffet supper and Christinas party. The hostesses, Mrs. Jack Pope, Miss Jean Hodgin and Miss Ellen Curric. centered the table with an advent wreath encircled by lighted candles. After supper a short business meeting was held, presided over by the chairman, Mrs. Carlton Niven. Then Mrs. B. F. Ferguson, program chaiiman. conducted some games. Mr. and Mrs. Claude T. Campbell of Forest City, visited his mother, Mrs. Mattic S. Campbell, last weekend. Education Dept Members of the Education Department of the Woman's Club held their annual member ? guest covered dish supper at the Raeford United Methodist Church on December 2. Mrs. Robert Gatlin. chairman, welcomed everyone to the festive occasion. Mr. Gatlin showed slides of historical sites in Hoke County, and then recited some poetry he had learned as a child. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Earl McDuffie attended a meeting of the Hormel Co. in Charlotte last weekend where he was given a district sales award for the most sales volume. Mrs. W. T. Gibson Sr. has returned to her home in Batesburg, S. C., after a visit here with Mrs. W. T. Gibson. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bayes were guests of Mrs. Lacy McFadyen last week. They were on their way home to Eaton Rapids, Mich., after a visit with her brother. Jack Betnune and family in Tampa, Fla. Mrs. Bayes and Mr. Bethune are former Raeford residents. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred K. Leach returned home yeaterday from a 12 day trip to Denver, Col., where they attended a convention. Mrs. Graham Clark, Mrs. Stephen Mclntyre of Lumberton, and Mrs. Henry Maxwell spent the weekend in Sanford as guests of Mrs. Maxwell's daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Walker and children.
