Tip: When not
to take a
laxative If you're one of the
millions of Americans who
uses laxatives, try to ask
yourself these questions
next time you take a dose:
Why arc you taking it? Are
you trying to correct a rare
case of constipation, or has
It become habit? Prolonged
use will impair normal
bowel function and can
lead to dangerous
dependence. ... Do you use
laxatives to stop abdominal
pains or vomiting? If so,
don't! You could overlook
a serious problem, such as
M appendicitis. ... Are you
taking it for an
unexplained intestinal
problem'* Agam. don't!
You oould be ignoring
