District Court Man Is Charged After Testifying For Friend One man was found not guilty of speeding by District Court Judge Joseph Dupree Friday, but due to testimony given under oath, anoth er man was charged with the offense. Benjamin Green, Rt. 1, Raeford pleaded not guilty to charges of speeding 70 in a 55 MPH zone and testified that Sgt. D.L. Minshew had arrested him for speeding after spotting his car on the way to a local store. Green said Minshew arrived at the store after he and his two companions had already gone into the store and later questioned him about owning the car and gave him a ticket and eventually placed him under arrest. Green called the witnesses who testified that Green was not driving the speeding car. When the district attorney asked Horace McAllister, P.O. Box 565, Raeford, one of Green's witnesses, if he was the one driving the car, he said he was. Dupree said that since McAllis ter had admitted driving the car under oath. Minshew should take the man to the magistrates office and charge him with speeding. Green was found not guilty of the offense and McAllister was sen tenced to 30 days, suspended and fined $15 and costs. Nathaniel Leslie. Rt. 3. Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI, fourth offense, and was sentenced to two years, suspended for five years, and placed on probation for five years and fined $500 and costs to begin at the expiration .of a previous sen tence imposed when he pleaded guilty to DUI and driving while his license was revoked and was sentenced to two years, suspended for five years, and placed on probation for five years and fined $750 and costs. Blood alcohol content recorded was .16 and .20. Frank Donald Perry, 511 E. Fifth Street, Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI and transporting alcoholic beverage with the seal broken and was sentenced to six months, suspended on condition he not drive for 12 months and pay $125 and costs. Blood alcohol content recorded was .19. Haywood J. Rivers, Grant Ave., Raeford, pleaded guilty to driving left of center, carrying a concealed weapon, DUI second offense, and driving while his license was revoked and was sentenced to two years, suspended for three and one-half years, and placed on probation for three and one-half years, ordered not to drive, and fined $500 and costs. Leon Jasper Willis, Rt. 2, Raeford, pleaded guilty to driving while his license was revoked, DUI, and assault on a female and was sentenced to 15 months. Blood alcohol content recorded was . 15. Edwin Byron Parks, Rt. 3, Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI after the state dropped charges of speeding 69 in a 55 MPH zone and was sentenced to 90 days, suspend ed for 12 months, and ordered not to drive for 12 months except for limited driving privileges and fined $150 and costs. Blood alcohol content recorded was .15. Jessie Lee Williams, Fayetteville, pleaded guilty to DUI and was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for 12 months, and ordered not to drive for 12 months except for limited driving privileges and fined $150 and cosfs. Edwin M. Diggs, Rt. 3, Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI and was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for 12 months, ordered not to drive for 12 months except for limited driving privileges and fined $150 and costs. Glen Evans, Fayetteville, was found guilty of DUI and was sentenced to six months, suspended for two years, and placed on probation for two years, and ordered not to drive for two years and fined S250 and costs. Blood alcohol, content recorded was .17. John Thomas Martin, Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to driving without a valid drivers license, inspection violation, and ficticious license plate after the state dropped charges of DUI and was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for two years on condition he pay S50 and costs. Vickie Jo Conoly, Rt. 4, Raeford, was found not guilty of DUI. Nathan Campbell, Jr., Fayette ville, pleaded guilty to reckless driving after the state dropped charges of DUI and was sentenced to 60 days. Dougald McDougald, Rt. 1, Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI and was sentenced to 90 days, suspend ed for 12 months, ordered not to drive for 12 months, except for limited driving privileges and fined $150 and costs. Rosevelt Cobbs, Chicago, 111., forfeited his bond of $200 on a DUI charge. The sentence of 90 days was changed to 30 days with the same suspension provisions for Henry C. Monroe, of Rt. 1, Raeford, and Calvin Monroe of Raeford. Lee Albert Jones, Rt. 3, Raeford. pleaded guilty to no financial responsibility and was sentenced to 60 days, suspended for two years, and fined $25 and costs. Levern Kershaw, Rt. 1, Raeford, pleaded guilty to speeding 65 in a 45 MPH zone and was sentenced to 30 days, suspended and fined $15 and costs. Levi Wolfe, Fayetteville, pleaded guilty to permitting an unlicensed person to operate a motor vehicle and no financial responsibility, and ficticious license plate and was sentenced to 90 days, suspended for two years, and fined $50 and costs. Joe Bryce Woods, Jr., pleaded guilty to speeding 68 in a 55 MPH zone and prayer for judgement was continued for two years if costs were paid. James Andrew Breeden, Rae ford, pleaded guilty to speeding 68 in a 55 MPH zone and prayer for judgement was continued for two years on condition that costs were was revoked and was sentenced to 18 months, suspended for three years, and fined $300.
