Farm Items BY HOKECOUNTY AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AGENTS The annual meeting of the Soybean Producers Association will start at 9 A.M. on Friday, Feb. 6, 1976 at the Hilton Inn in Raleigh. The program will include informa tion on the outlook for soybeans, many of the newer production practices, and on national research on soybeans. The program also includes a banquet that night and many of the awards will be given at 4 that time. All soybean farmers are invited to attend. ? ? ? The 1973 General Assembly of North Carolina ratified a bill having potential impact for qualify ing owners of agricultural, horti cultural or forest land. The oweners can receive upon approval of application, property tax relief in situations where assesment of land at market value results in taxes which are above that of assessment at present use value. A rollback provision is included which will require payment of part or all of the taxes deferred in previous years when the land is no longer eligible for special assess ments. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lee's daughter Carol Ann. reports from the Rockfish Family Care Home that all are well there, but Mrs. Lee took Miss Mary McFadycn to the doctor Monday afternoon. Mrs. Lee's husband. Jesse, who spent several weeks at Cape Fear Valley Hospital is at home. The residents of the home did not go to church Sunday, but a choir from Whispering Pines came and sang for them Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Lee Still has room for one more. Their Thanks to the singers who visited them Sunday p.m. CLUB MEETS Rockfish Extension Homemakers Club met on Wednesday Jan. 28 at the home of Mrs. Dora Solomon, with 7 members present. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Wayne Bundy took her place, and gave an interesting talking demonstration on "Tensions". Most of the members had experienced tension at one time or another since it was the first meeting in 1976 the members were asked about their New Veais resolutions. All were good and some were comical. All ten members enjoyed meeting with Mrs. Solomon who is "as spry as a cricket" at anything she undertakes. At the close of the meeting the hostess Mrs. ' Solomon served dainty refreshments in two courses. Tilne and place of next meeting will be announced later. Mr. and Mrs. James E.
