Mrs. Carlton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 Woman's Club Education Dept Members of the Education De partment of the Raeford Woman's Club met Tuesday, February 3, in the home of Mrs. Tommie Up church with Mrs. Ed Willis co hostess. First, of the two part program was Mrs. Tommie Upchurch, who spoke briefly about investments, informing the group how to choose land for purchase and increase its value. Mrs. Jack Mansfield, a teacher at Upchurch Junior High School, presented the Occupational Ex plorations, a pilot program at the school. She used slides taken of local students during classroom work and narrated on the activities. Students arc exposed to the OE twice weekly and some of their studies include bookkeeping, typ ing, sewing, woodworking, home making. drafting and designing. Mrs. Mansfield displayed some of the finished products of the various classes. The presentation was very informative, as many of the group were unaware Hoke County has this program. I lome Life Dept \ The Home Life Department of the Raeford Woman's Club met 1 Tuesday night February 3 at the home of Mrs. Clyde Knox. A Valentine motif was used in the live flower arrangements throughout the Knox home. Miss Beth Johnson, teacher in the Hoke County School system was the guest speaker. She gave an interesting program on Weight Watchers. At the conclusion oi the meeting Mrs. Knox served a cherry dessert and hot spiced tea. To Be Married Mr. and Mrs. Jesse C. Lee of Raeford announce Ihe approaching marriage of (heir daughter Carol lo Danny S. Hales of Fayetleville. He is the son ol Mr. and Mrs. Jesse P. Hales also of Fayetleville. The wedding is set for February 22 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Whispering Pines Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Willis had as their guest Mrs. Willis' sister, Mrs. Robert Powell of Clinton, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Donnie H. Smith will celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary the 17th of February. WANTED - News for social page. Lester returned today after spending several days in Chapel Hill, where Mr. Lester, county manager, at tended a school at the Institute of Government. Mrs. Archie Howard is visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howard in Arlington, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Davis Parker attended the REA annual conven tion in Anaheim, Calif, last week, along with other members of the Board of Directors and their wives from Red Springs and surrounding areas. Don Williamson of NCSU spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Williamson. Clyde Upchurch 111 of UNC, Wilmington, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Upchurch, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Weaver of Goldsboro were Sunday guests in the home of her sister, Mrs. Wilson McBryde and Mr. McBryde. Weekend visitors in the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Shankle. were Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Wright of Greensboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Shankle and Chris of Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Burnett spent the weekend in College Park, Maryland with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nicholas and family. Dr. and Mrs. W.L. Howell III and family of Columbia, S.C. and Tom Howell of UNC, Chapel Hill, spent the weekend in the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Howell. They came especially to visit Mr. Howell who entered Moore Memorial Hospital last Wednesday.
