All of these seniors have a right to be proud of receiving this honor, and everyone at Hoke High should be grateful for all the hard work and dedication these seniors have done and shown to Hoke High. Three members of the Health Careers Club attended a district rally, February 21, at Reid Ross High School in Fayetteville, The three members, along with club advisor, Mrs. Sally Young, that went were Evelyn Cameron, Gloria Smith, and Ellen Campbell. Dr. Jesse Williams, director of the Cumberland County Health De partment, gave a speech on 'Com mitted to Caring in 1976', and everyone thought it was very enjoyable and interesting. After the speech, a buffet luncheon was given and then a dance followed. Every one enjoyed the day. The Hoke High Chorus and Chorale participated in the North Carolina Music Festival competi tion and workshop on Friday, February 27. Everyone had a great time going to UNC-Wilmington and meeting with other members of school choruses, and singing with them. The Chorus sang second in the competition Friday afternoon, and didn't have long to wait and get nervous. The Chorus sang acupel la, in grade five music, 'Praise to the Lord', and received a superior rating for their singing. The Chorale sang about an hour later, undirected by Mrs. Mary Archie McNeill, and sang in grade six music, the most difficult level, with 'Choose Something Like A Star', and also received a superior rating for their singing. It was a fun day for everyone, but it was great to get home again, with the relief of the competition over, and the satisfac tion and gratefulness of both groups receiving superior. They have met with boys and girls throughout Hoke County in homes, fire departments, and just about any where that can be found to accommodate from five to 50 4-H'ers. Our volunteer leaders have worked toward developing the young individual to learn, gain confidence, and to strive to be successful in the goals each 4-H'er . has set. The 4-H Pledge: I Pledge my Head to clearer thinking, my Heart to greater loyalty, my hands to large service, and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world. We at the Hoke County Agri cultural Extension Service feel that these leaders are doing as good a job of understanding exactly what this pledge means and have done an excellent job for Hoke County youth. They also follow the 4-H motto "To Make the Best Better", it through education or just "good ole" clean fun. Once again we would like to thank the volunteer leaders for a job well done.
