TEL. 875-2186 Bucks Stop Byrd With No-Hitter The Hoke High baseball team got off to a good start last Wednesday with a 7-0 shutout, no SUPPORT THE BUCKS hit win over Douglas Byrd of Fayetteville. "We're happy with the team's performance as far as defense and the pitching staff goes." said Hoke baseball coach Terry Grier. The Bucks jumped to a quick 4-0 lead after the first inning and added one in the fourth and two in the fifth. Buck pitchers Eddie Ramsey, Eddie Jackson, and David McNeill combined for the no hitter. Ramsey pitched the first five innings. Jackson the sixth, and McNeill the seventh inning. The Bucks turned over three double plays during the game as Noah Hendrix led the defensive effort for Hoke. Tim Ross led the Bucks in the hitting department along with Stanley Cummings. Ross was 2-3 with one RBI and Cummings was 1-2 with three RBls. Hoke played at Red Springs Tuesday and will take on a strong Sanford team tomorrow (Friday) in Sanford. Tennis Clinic In Pinecrest High The North Carolina Tennis Association, in cooperation with the Sandhills Tennis Association, will sponsor a free clinic for tennis teachers at Sandhills Community College in Southern Pines Satur day. March 20. In the event of inclement weather, the clinic will be held in the Pinecrest High School Gym.
