Paint Peeling? Here's A Tip By Willie Feathervtone, Jr. An't. Agricultural Agent Here are tips and suggestions on how to correct a common paint problem. This is the second in a series of articles giving instructions to correct many of the paint problems around the house. PEELING OF PAINT UNDER THE OVERHANG OF A ROOF: 1) Paint sometimes peels in spots under the overhang of a roof or in other areas of a house that are protected from weather. Such peel ing is normally caused by a build - up "salt" deposits which would normally be washed away by rain in exposed areas. 2) To correct this problem, remove the old peeling paint by sanding the surface thor oughly. 3) After sanding, prepare a solution of three heaping table spoons of any good powdered detergent to one gallon of water. Wash the sanded surface with this solution. Rinse with clear water ?PRIMARY ? Continued from page 1 campaigning in the state. Sen. Lloyd M. Bentsen, Jr. of Texas remains on the ballot, although he has withdrawn from the presi dential race. On the ballot issues, supporters of the amendment number two, which would permit the sale of industrial revenue bonds, are hoping the measure will win pas sage this time, after being defeated twice before. The Hoke County Board of Commissioners endorsed passage of the measure, and on Tuesday, directors of the Raeford-Hoke Chamber of Commerce voted to endorse it along with amendment number one, which would permit the state to sell revenue bonds to finance health care facilities, and the $47 million general obligation bond issue for higher education. Although both Republican and Democratic state executive com mittees have endorsed approval of the ballot issues, the Hoke County Democrats did not take an official stand at their convention earlier this month. The Hoke County ABC store will be closed all day Tuesday. ?PLANNER ? Continued from page 1 Debnam said he thought the basis for Mrs. Sweet's complaint that the program was "doing nothing" was really just a mis understanding. "I think it was her misinter pretation of what a family planning practitioner is. They do more than just clinical work, she may have felt she should have been in a clinic five days a week, but clinical work is ? just a very small fraction of it", he said. "1 have very high praise for Otha, she is very good at her work. We were in the process of working this all out. and hoping to expand the clinics, including Hoke County", he said. and allow to dry. 4) After the surface is thoroughly dry, apply two coats of a good grade of under coating paint. 5) After the under coat has thoroughly dried, apply one good coat of a top quality house paint. Under some conditions, two finished coats may also be re quired. This treatment normally corrects the peeling conditions. (1 John 2:6, RSV) Consideration for others is very important, especially in the little ways that are available for us each day? *a word of thanks ?an act of friendliness *a kind word *a helpful act. This was impressed on me recenlly at a birthday party for a lovely lady one hundred years old. She sat in her wheel chair. Her friends came in and greeted her. One after another persons stood before her and shook her hand, and she raised her eyes in thanks. Soon a retired minister came in. When he took her hand, he dropped down on one knee so that she did not have to look up; but instead she could look directly into the eyes of her friend. Here was consideration that had not oc curred to the rest of us. We can feel God's presence in the person of Jesus. Can others feel His presence as they look into our ;yes and watch us live? ' PRAYER: We thank Thee, our Father, for the persons in whose ?yes we have seen the presence of lesus. Help us to live so that others, looking into our eyes, will see Thy presence. Amen.
