The last few weeks of warm
weather really got everyone feeling
great and making plans for the
various clubs at Hoke High again,
but as everyone knew it would, it
didn't last long and the cold and
rainy days are back, for a few more
weeks at least. Club activities have
slacked off some, but many are still
in there fighting to keep the ol' club
(whichever it may be) spirit up.
The senior executive committee
has begun planning for the senior
prom; ordering decorations, selling
tickets, and whatever else it is that
has to be done for this. The prom is
set for sometime in April (but of
course, I'm only a junior, and
nobody tells me anything), and I'm
not sure of the exact date.
The annual staff has at last
finished and sent in the last copy of
the annual. The last deadline was
March 11, and even though it was a
rush the week before the deadline,
everything got in on time. Annuals
will probably be back in May, and
we're all looking forward to seeing
what Hoke High went through this
past year.
The SAE has been busy all week.
On Saturday, March 13, the club
officers: Hope Williams, president,
Steve Morgan, vice-president; Bar
bara McCall, secretary; and Mrs.
Marilyn Semones, club advisor;
along with several other club
members went to the state conven
tion in Chapel Hill. Everyone said
they really enjoyed themselves, and
met old friends from the October
district convention and made many
new ones. On Monday. March 15,
SAE members were the hosts for 22
members of the Upchurch student
council. The student council ac
companied the SAE to many of
their classes and got a look of other
classes the SAE members did not
take. A party was given sixth period
in the Gibson cafeteria for the
student council before they left
Hoke High.
The Music Booster Club is
asking everyone's support in their
quest to make Hoke High's music
department bigger and better this
year and especially next year and
years to come. Many fund raising
efforts have been and are being
held this week. A bake sale was
held in Raeford this past Saturday,
and everyone who helped, baked,
and bought are thanked extremely
for their efforts, generosity, and
very hard work. A car wash and
manicure will be held Saturday,
March 20 at Hoke High. A yard
sale will also be held and any
contributions to the yard sale
readily accepted. A bicycle will also
be raffled off Saturday, and if you
have not bought a ticket, they are
only one dollar and will gTeatly
benefit the Music Booster Club. If
you are not a member of the club,
please contact Mrs. Robert Town
send or any club officers if you wish
to join. The Hoke High Chorale's
planned trip to Washington and
Philadelphia from March 31 until
April 4 will be greatly helped by the
efforts of the Music Booster Club.
These singers are really working
hard to go, so please, everyone help
in any way you can.
