Elderly 'Con' Victims, Police Chief Warns Rim-flam artists are turning up with more frequency and elderly persons are often the victims. Police Chief Leonard Wiggins warned last week. Wiggins said older persons should not admit any stranger to their homes, and be suspicious of anyone claiming to have "found" money, or a bankbook, or other valuables, in remarks to the Cam eron Heights Neighborhood Center senior citizens lunch last Thursday. The police chief also cautioned against doing business with Strang gers who claim to be in the painting business, or roofing, or other home repair, as many swindles are worked under the guise of "doing it cheap". Wiggins also said the best way to protect money is to put it into a bank. "Don't keep large sums of cash in your home, and don't carry a lot of money. Leave it in a bank," he said. Wiggins advised the group to promptly report any persons with suspicious schemes to the police.
