Its purpose is to motivate citizens to become more health conscious, and to focus attention on health needs. This week is an event of the nation's bicentennial celebration. The theme for the week is Better Health ? America's Wealth. There are some 56,000.000 per sons living in rural America. This represents 27% of our population and 40% of the poor. This points out the need for rural health service. This is of interest to Hoke Citizens. Hoke is considered a rural area. Agencies are at work on improving health facilities. What does the future hold? Community Calendar Monday, April 12 ? Lions Club at 6:30 P.M. at the Civic Center. Tuesday, April 13 ? Chaminade Music Club at 7:45 P.M. Glass Re-cycliner Continues The Hoke County glass recycling project is continuing underway and citizens are urged to bring their glass garbage to the landfill solid waste disposal site, according to Raeford Woman's Club spokesman Kaye Thomas. Mrs. Thomas said clean barrels for the glass are in the shed near the office at the site. A Cadette Girl Scout troop has agreed to help in sorting glass this spring, Mrs. Thomas said. She said the glass that is collected in Hoke County is trans ported to Ft. Bragg where it is routed to Laurens Glass Company in Henderson. She said the glass is ground, melted, and recast into new glass containers there. She said clear, green, and brown glass is acceptable, but must be sorted before it goes to Ft. Bragg.
