Social Reporter, 875-3785 Brown - Cox Married In Lumberton Miss Bonnie Faye Cox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Cox of Lumberton, and Geogre Parker Brown, son of Walter D. Brown of Raeford and the late Mrs. Brown, were married Sunday, April 11, at 3:00 p.m., in Godwin Heights Baotist Church, Lumberton. The Rev. LeroyCalder officiated for the double ring ceremony. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. James Maxwell of Shannon, organist, and Rudolph Locklear of Pembroke, vocalist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride word a gown of white satin and Brussels lace designed with high neckline and yoke of Tace, centered with family pearls, bishop sleeves with deep cuffs of English aet and lace, and bell skirt featuring a deep tiered applique of lace and net with a fluted lace ruffle around the hemline. Her long veil, (bordered with Brussels lace, and a chapel-length illusion veil were attached to a madonna from of Alecon lace. She carried a boquet of yellow sweetheart roses and daisies. Mrs. Charles Campbell of Rae ford was matron of honor. Brides maids were Mrs. William Neil McCormick of Lumberton, sister of the bride, and Miss Diane Sacry of Lumberton. They wore yellow empire gowns with net of green and white daisies and picture hats and carried arm bouquets of long stemmed yellow sweetheart roses. Roland Brown of Fayetteville, served as best man for his brother. Ushers were Walter Brown of Georgia, brother of bridegroom, and Charlels Campbell of Raeford. The bride's parents entertained with a reception in their home following the ceremony. After a wedding trip to Long Beach, the newlyweds will be at home at Route 1, Raeford. The bride is a graduate of Lumberton High School and Womick Selenia Business College and was employed with Robeson Technical Institute in Lumberton. Mr. Brown, a graduate of Hoke County High School, attended Air Police Academy, Durham Institute of Barbering. and Basic Police Science School. He is now attend c ing Robeson Technical Institute to obtain an A.S. degree in Police Science Technology and is employ ed as a patrolman with the Raeford Police Department. Christian Women's Club Luncheon The Christian Women's Club will meet April 21st at 11:30 a.m., at the Country Club of North Carolina. The Art of Rug Hooking will be the featured demonstration by Elizabeth Hall. Mrs. Phillip Hogan will be the soloist, presenting special music, accompanied by Jack Swink. National representatives of The Christian Women's Club will be the speakers. These ladies travel all over the continent establishing clubs and councils. The Christian Women's Club is a National Association of interde nominational women which meets for luncheon once a month in many of the leading cities and areas throughout this Country and Canada. Mrs. George Parker Brown Bridal Shower For Miss McLean Miss Mary Wallis McLean of Fayetteville, formerly of Raeford. bride-elect of April 24, was hon ored on Saturday evening when Mrs. J.T. Haire entertained at her home at 312 East Prospect Avenue. Miss McLean and her mother. Mrs. Wallace McLean, were both presented corsages, after which the bride - elect was showered with miscellaneous gifts by those pres ent. The dining table was centered with an arrangement of mixed spring flowers flanked by lighted tapers. Mrs. McLean poured punch and Mrs. Martin Wood, cousin of the honoree, served the cake. Miss McLean will be married to Lt. Thomas Russell Bolin in a ceremony at the J.F. Kennedy Memorial Chapel at Fort Bragg. Attends Festival Miss Debbie Minshew, Hoke High's Miss Ekoh. was invited to be a special guest at the eighth annual Carolina Dogwood Festival held last weekend in Statesville. Among the 20 visiting queens from throughout the Carolinas was the reigning Miss North Carolina. Each queen was an honor guest at all events during the Dogwood Festival weekend which included a banquet, parade and pageant. Miss Minshew. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Minshew of College Dr.. was escourted by Chris Seawell of Southern Pines and NCSU. Her chaperone was Mrs. Lawrence Bounds. Miss Hall Hostess ToRaeford U.D.C. Raeford Chapter #1279 of the U.D.C. met at the home of Miss Josephine Hall on Friday after noon. Mrs. K.A. MacDonald was co-hostess. The president. Mrs. Floyd Mon roe, presided and gave the report for the year which she planned to present at the district meeting in Lumberton on April 10. Mrs. Herman Koonce, Mrs. George Monroe and Mrs. Glenn Wood were to accompany Mrs. Monroe to the meeting. Mrs. Glenn Wood gave the program which was on Confederate Cavalrymen, Wizards of the Saddle. Mrs. Gerald Wright was wel comed as a visitor at the meeting. The hostess served a dessert course.
