CITY YARD ? The home of Mr. and Mrs. Graham Monroe at 215 Harris .1 I t'.
was chosen as best looking city yard of the week by the RaeforJ Junior
Wumaris Club.
From The Home Agent's Desk
HINT: Sueded vinyl upholstery
fabric on furniture provides a soft,
rich - looking nap. But the good
looks belie the easy care. Most dirt
brushes away with a little help from
detergent or soap and water. Along
with the elegance, durability and
cleanability, there are colors to suit
every room scheme.

SYNTHETIC SUEDE
A '76 PACESETTER
Washable, Soft
and
Wrinkle-Resistant
If you have looked in fabric
departments lately, you probably
noticed the new synthetic suede
materials that are now on the
market. This new fabric combines
the plushness of suede with the easy
care properties of synthetic blends,
and is used to create dresses,
sportswear and menswear. Avail
able under various trade names,
the luxury fabric may also be seen
in accessory items such as hand
bags. hats, belts and in home
furnishing that include pillow and
chair seats.
The snappy newcomer comes in
navy, teal and earth tones such as
rust, olive, tobacco, tan. Blends
include 60% polyester/40% non -
fibrous polyurethane; 95% poly
ester/5% non - fibrous polyure
thane; 80% triacetate/20% nylon.
And, the latest arrival is 100%
nnlvpcfpr!
Laundering and drying instruc
tions vary, so be sure that care
labels are read and followed
carefully.
When sudsing suede synthetics
by hand, care should be taken in
rinsing not to squeeze or wring the
items. To remove excess moisture,
roll garments in a towel. Lay flat or
hang to dry.
Tlie wrinkle - resistant charac
teristic of the elegant fabric has
made it a favorite for traveling.
Touch - up ironing can be done
with a low heat setting, pressing on
the reverse side with a press cloth.
A light brushing, in one direction,
restores the nap. Comfortable in
any season, the material is light
and won't stretch out of shape. A
boon to home sewers, the fabric is
suitable for tailored garments, such
as vests, pants and pillows. It can
be draped, pleated, gathered or
stitched for a full flowing effect.
Though lining is not necessary with
synthetic suedes, it may be used.
Pre - shrunk interfacings are
recommended so a finished
garment is completely machine
launderable.

In America today. there are more
than 4,000,000 home accidents each
year - 30,000 are fatal; 225,000 acci
dents involve washing machines,
stoves, power mowers and heating
devices; 30,000 accidents involve ex
tension cords. The message is plain -
great caption must be used in using
heating and electrical equipment and
machinery with moving parts. Parents
should stop and analyze the dangers
involved in each household appliance
and then carefully explain the risks to
children and instruct them in safe
operation.
