Speak Wedding Vows
Mrs. Leon Hough
Miss Shirley Mae Jones, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Jones of
Raeford, and Leon Hough, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde L. Hough of
Rockfish, spoke their marriage
vows Sunday, June 13, at 3:00
p.m., at New Pilgrim Holiness
Church in Raeford. Bishop Wal
lace Shields of Winston-Salem
officiated. ,
i Wedding music was presented by
Miss Pamela S. Dockery, cousin of
the bride, pianist, and Leo McRae
and Danya Dockery, cousins of the
bride, vocalists, who sang The
* Lord's Prayer as the benediction.
An altar arrangement of snap
dragons and pink and white carna
tions and candles was backed with
palms. Family pews were marked
with bows of pink ribbon.
Escorted by her father, the bride
wore an empire gown of candlelight
organza and hand-embroidered
Chantilly lace. Her veil was held by
a cluster of hand-embroidered
roses and she carried a cascade
bouquet of pastel wedding roses,
stephanotis and English ivy with
pastel ribbon streamers.
Miss Patricia Jones of Atlanta.
Ga., sister of the bride, was maid of
honor. She wore a lavender poly
ester knit dress draped with a wide
cape trimmed with matching fringe
and carried palm fronds with pink
carnations and ribbon streamers.
Bridesmaids were Miss Brenda
Jones, sister of the bride, Miss
Carolyn Shaw, cousin of the bride,
Misses Evelyn and Irene Eden, the
bridegroom's cousins, and Mrs.
Denese Dupree, all of Raeford; and
Miss Gail Shields of Winston
Salem. Their pink dresses were
?made like the honor attendant's
and they carried similar flowers.
The flower girl, Angela Jones,
niece of the bride, wore a lavender
formal dress with embroidered lace

gie Farmer, aunt of the bride
groom, poured punch.
After a short wedding trip the
newlyweds will be at home in the
Scurlock Community.

Mr. and Mrs. John Reid Davis of
Oxford, announce the engagement
of their daughter, Virginia Lorene,
to Robert Edward Anderson of
Charleston, S.C., son of Mrs. Jean
R. Anderson of Aiken. S.C. and H.
Gary Anderson of Graniteville,
S.C.
Miss Davis, formerly of Raeford,
attended Hoke County High School
and received a B.S. degree in social
services from Campbell College.
Mr. Anderson was graduated from
Baptist College in Charleston and is
employed by the North Charleston
Police Department.
The wedding is planned for
August 15 in Oxford Presbyterian
Church.

day with a picnic celebrating his
80th birthday. More than 20
relatives and friends were present
for the occasion at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Davis K. Parker Jr. Other

Duncan B. Parker.

Dinner Parties Given
For Miss Gibson, Fiance
Miss Julia Ann Gibson, bride
elect of June, was honored with a
dinner party given by Mrs. John
Campbell and Mrs. June Johnson
at the Campbell home on Thursday
evening of last week.
An arrangement of white lilies
centered the dining table where six
guests were seated, and pink
rosebuds centered the two auxiliary
tables where places were marked
for eight guests.
Miss Gibson was presented with
a corsage of white gardenias and a
gift of silver in her chosen pattern.
Miss Gibson and Jerry Tucker
were entertained at supper Friday
evening by Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Howell, Tom, Anne and David
Howell at their home.
Tables were placed on the lawn
for picnic supfwr of fried chicken
and accessories with home-made
ice cream for dessert.
The couple was remembered
with a gift.
Miss Jennie Hubard of Roanoke,
Va., a classmate of the bride-elect
at East Carolina University, who
will be one of the bridesmaids, was
an out-of-town guest on both
occasions.
The home of Mrs. Julius Jordan
was the scene for a dinner party
Monday night in honor of Miss
Gibson. Co-hostesses were Misses
Anna and Kelly Jordan.
Dinner was served buffet style
from the dining table, decorated
with a large arrangment of pink
roses.
Guests were seated at three small
tables placed in the living room.
A corsage of white daisies and a
gift of pewter were presented to the
nonoree.
Dessert Bridge Fetes
Mrs. Norma Wilburn
Mrs. Norma Wilburn, whose
wedding to Avery Connell took
place Saturday afternoon at the
Raeford Methodist Church, was
entertained at a dessert-bridge on
Monday evening of last week at the
home of Mrs. W.K. Morgan, with
Mrs. Bob Gentry and Mrs.Nathan
McGee, co-hostesses.
Guests were seated at card
tables, centered with arrangements
of roses, and served a dessert of
bridal cake squares, ice cream and
coffee.
The dining table, centered with a
large arrangment of multi-colored
roses, held an assortment of confec
tions and a bowl of punch where
guests served themselves during
progressions.
At the end of the game high score
prize went to Mrs. William Mc
Donald, and second high to Mrs.
Larry Phillips.
The hostesses remembered the
honoree with a corsage and a
framed Pennsylvania Dutch print
marriage certificate.
