James (Jimmie) Kelly gave notice of appeal Friday after Judge Joseph Dupree pronounced him guilty of iS" ,7ithD a i*ead|y weapon. Kelly,17, Rt. 2, Box 181 A. Raeford, was ordered to be com mitted to the custody of the commissioner of correction for treatment and supervision as a committed youthful offender for a term of not less than one day nor more than two years. In other action against Kelly he pleaded not guilty to a charge of the attempted kidnapping of Deborah J-arter of Lumber Bridge. Judge Dupree found probable cause to nave the defendant bound over to superior court for action by the grand |ury. Willie Herbert Blue, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 18 months in jail. He was also found to be in violation of probation judgment and the here tofore suspended sentence of 18 months was ordered into im mediate effect, both sentences to be served concurrently. Charles Jackson, Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to charges of impeding traffic by standing on a main portion of the highway and of driving with license revoked. The court pronounced him guilty and sentenced him to two years, suspended for four years, and placed him on probation for two years. The defendant was ordered to surrender his limited driving privilege and not operate a motor vehicle until properly licensed to do so, and to follow guidance of probation officer in regard to alcoholic rehabilitation. He was fined $500 and costs. Dennis Michael Anderson, Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle belonging to Bonnie L. Jones of Travelers Rest, S.C. He also pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and driving without a license. He was sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended for three years, and fined $250 and costs. He was ordered to violate no penal laws of the state for three years. Dewey E. Suggs, Aberdeen, pleaded guilty to charges of assault brought by Darlean Suggs. He was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for three years, and fined $200 and costs. He was cautioned not to assault the prosecuting witness for a period of three years. Edward Alexander Caddell, Fayetteville, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to six months, suspended for two years, and fined $150 and costs. The judge ordered him not to violate the narcotic control law for two years. Gilbert Tillman. 513 Grant Ave.. Raeford, pleaded guilty to assault on a female, Linda Tate. A prayer for judgment is continuing for three years with the court reserving right to pass final judgment within three years. He was ordered to pay costs. Percy English, Rt. 2, Raeford. pleaded not guilty to discharging a firearm into an occupied motor vehicle. No probable cause was found. Clarence Corbett, Lumber Bridge, pleaded not guilty to two charges of breaking and entering and to two charges of receiving stolen goods. The state presented no evidence and the finding was no probable cause on all charges. Jimmy Elebey. Shannon, plead ed guilty to attempted grand larceny and was sentenced to be committed to the custody of the commissioner of corrections for treatment and supervision as a committed youth offender for not less than one day nor more than two years, suspended for 3'/j years. Probation will also run 3'/i years. He was fined $300 and cost. David C. Odom, Rt. 1, Box 648, Raeford, pleaded guilty to a worthless check charge. He was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and ordered to pay $60 restitution for use of Blanton's Grocery and court costs. James D. McAllister, Lumber Bridge, pleaded guilty to worthless check charges brought by Short Stop on four different checks. He was sentenced to a total of 60 days in jail. The defendant gave notice of appeal in open court. James Liles, Rt. 1, Box 538. Raeford, pleaded guilty to worth less check charges and was ordered to pay S21 restitution, a $2 warrant fee and court costs. Robert A. Cole Jr., 405 N. Dickson St., Raeford, pleaded guilty to passing a worthless check in the amount of $15. He was ordered to pay restitution and costs. Theodore Liles, Rt. 4, Raeford, was found not guilty of passing a worthless check. William Jacobs, Shannon, pleaded guilty to fishing without a license and was taxed court costs and a $10 fine. Ronald Brooks, Shannon, plead ed guilty to fishing without a license and was ordered to pay $10 and costs. CITY YARD?The Junior Wo mans Club of RaeJ'ord picked the home of Mr. und Mrs. H. R. McLean. 106 Reaves St.. as the best looking yard in the city for the week. The judging is part of a local heautijlcation campaign. Kersey of Kentucky, speeding 68 in a 55 MPH zone, $10 and costs. Plummer Locklear Jr., Shannon, pleaded guilty to fishing without a license and was ordered to pay court costs. Ronald Joseph Herrschaft, Fay etteville. pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and driving left of center. He was sentenced to 90 days, sus pended for 12 months and fined $150 and costs. Frederick Ferdian Wilson, Rt. 1, Box 590, pleaded guilty to DUI, misdemeanor hit and run and property damage. He was sen tenced to 12 months, suspended for two years, and ordered to surrender his license for 12 months. Limited driving privileges were granted. He was cautioned to violate no penal laws for two years, and ordered to pay $50 to L.S. Brock, Jr., and fined $150 and costs. Alexander McRae, Rt. 2, Box 504, Raeford, pleaded guilty to DUI, second offense. The judg ment was that the defendant be imprisoned for six months, sus pended for two years, and placed on probation for two years. He was ordered to surrender his operators license and not operate a motor vehicle for two years. He was required to follow the guidance of the probation officer in regard to alcoholic rehabilitation, and pay a fine of $250 plus cost of action. Charles Jackson, Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to a second offense of DUI. He was judged guilty of DUI, impeding traffic and driving while license revoked, and was sentenced to two years, pro bationed for four years. Fine was S500 and he was required to pay costs. He was directed to follow the guidance of his probation officer and surrender his limited driving privileges. Warren Tate, Rt. 1, Box 401, Raeford, pleaded guilty to charges of DUI and was sentenced to 18 months, suspended for 3'/i years. He was fined $300 and costs and forbidden to operate a motor vehicle until licensed to do so. He was cautioned to follow the guidance of his probation officer. William Nathan Dill, Ft. Lewis, waived a probable cause hearing of charges of arson to personal property and fraud. Terry Dale Burdette, Fayette ville. was fined $5 and costs for speeding 65 in a 55 MPH zone. E-4 Willian Randy Craft, Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to speeding 76 in a 55 MPH zone. He was fined $25 and costs. Denis Ray Dunagen, Rt. 3, Raeford, pleaded guilty to speeding 80 in a 55 MPH zone and was sentenced to 30 days, suspended and fined S30 and costs, plus $4 for subpoenas. Spec. 4 Richard Douglas Bosley Jr., Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to speeding 78 in a 55 MPH zone and was sentenced to 30 days suspended and fined $30 plus costs. James Edward Daniels, Rt. 1, Box 187, Raeford, pleaded guilty to speeding 75 in a 55 MPH zone and was sentenced to 30 days, sus pended, and fined S25, plus costs. Donald Phillip Klassette, Char lotte, pleaded not guilty to speeding 70 in a 55 MPH zone. He was found guilty and sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined S25 and costs. James Earl Malloy, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to speeding 68 in a 55 MPH zone and was sentenced to 30 days, suspended and fined $10 plus costs. Edwin Lee Heffner, Shelby, pleaded guilty to speeding 81 in a 55 MPH zone and was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $35 plus costs. Mavis Sturdivant, Rt. 1, Box 129 Raeford. pleaded no contest to exceeding 55 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. He was fined $15 and costs. Lonnie Hampton Stewart, Fay etteville, pleaded guilty to an inspection violation and was ordered to pay costs. E-3 Melvin William Milton, Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to driving without a license. He was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $25 and costs. In other action against Milton, he pleaded guilty to no financial responsibility and was sentenced to 6 months, suspended for two years and fined $50. He was cautioned to violate no motor vehicle regis tration laws for two years. Samuel McMillan, P.O. Box 613, Raeford, pleaded guilty to having no operator's license. He was sentenced to 30 days, sus pended, and fined $25 and costs. Morgan Randolph Blue, San ford, pleaded guilty to a stop sign violation and was ordered to pay court costs. Jessie Hayes Jr., Red Springs, pleaded guilty to failure to yielc right of way and was ordered to pa) costs. E-4 Jimmy McNeill, Ft. Bragg pleaded guilty to driving with license revoked and speeding 69 ir a 55 MPH zone. He was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for twc years, and fined S200 and costs. He was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle until properly licensed and ordered to surrender his limited driving privilege. In other action against McNeill he pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving with his license revoked. He was found not guilty as he was at that time driving on his limited driving privilege, the court found. Robert McLauchlin, Fayette ville, pleaded and was found not guilty of a charge of improper equipment. The following cases were dis missed from court: John P. Smith, 108 E. Grant St., Raeford, DUI; Lacy C. Morrison, Lake Elizabeth area, Raeford, child support; E-5 Jimmie Donald Robinson, Ft. Bragg, parking violation; Frederick Ferdian Wilson, Rt. 1, Box 590, Raeford, intoxication in a public place; and Jerry Williams, Rt. 1, Box 537, Raeford, child support; Ruthie Andrews, Rt. 1, Box 107, Raeford, causing an affray; and Jessie Lee Locklear Hunt, Red Springs, larceny. The following students were jailed Friday on charges of fighting on a school bus: Preston Le? Morgan, Eugene D. Rogers, Carl Bernard Miller, Wade Hill, all ol Lumber Bridge, and Kenneth Ward Dixon of 106 Myra Road, Raeford. The boys were released Monday with a prayer for judgment continuing until Friday.
