All individuals who enjoy tennis are urged to participate in the fight against cancer. All proceeds from this tournament will go to the North Carolina Cancer Crusade in the quest of conquering this dreaded disease. Divisions of play will include mens singles, womens singles, mens doubles, mixed doubles, and boys and girls singles 18 years of age and under. This is to be a fun event for everyone was well as to determine Hoke County's best in the respective divisions. Those interested in playing in the fight against cancer please complete the entry form below and mail to Dave Russell. 719 E. Donaldson Ave., Raeford. C. Dockery and C. Flowers led the hitting for R. Grill and McM. Groc. Leading the Jaycees charge was K. Little hitting 4-4 with a two run homer followed by a 3-3 performance by B. Campbell and her solo homer. Hollingsworth and Top Sound Music showed little mercy to Rose's Aviation with a 31-5 victory. Fay Currie hit 2-3 for Rose's Avt. while W. Southerland and J. Bease had 5-6 each scoring 10 runs total. In Thursday's action Hoke Jay cees rallied in the fourth inning to defeat Hollingsworth and Top Sound Music 13-7. T. Jackson was 3-3 with two runs for the Jaycees with help from K. Jordan's and B. Campbell's 3-4 efforts with a solo homer by B. Campbell. W. South land, J. Shaw, and. S. Bounds, compiled five of HWT and TSM's nine hits. Rosa's Grill and McMillian's Groc. avenged their loss to Rose's Avt. last week with a 14-4 victory after five innings of play. B. Odom was 2-2 for Rose's Avt. with Fay Currie's 2-3 efforts. S. Hasty was 3-3 for Rosa's Grill and McMil lian's Groc. while D. Pleasant was 3-4 driving in the final score to end the game. In Friday's makeup game there seemed to be no end to the scoring of the Jaycees as they rallied 52 runs to Rose's Avt. after four innings of play with an hour time limit. Leading the Jaycees was D. Little 6-7 with six runs. K. Little hit a three run homer and B. Campbell added a solo homer for the Jaycees victory. S. Baker was 1-1 for Rose's Avt., whose team was held to two hits. Hollingsworth & Top Sound rallied in the fifth inning with six runs to down Rose's Grill and McMillian's Groc. 8-5. Sallie Rig gins was 2-3 for Rose's Grill & McMillians's Groc. Leading the hitting for HWT & TSM was J. Bratcher's 1-1 effort, with help from A. Hollingsworth and S. Bounds 1-2 efforts. Girls * League Wreckers Upset By Pat Scott The Patriots defeated the Re creation Wreckers 9-8 Tuesday with a 4-4 performance by A. Taylor. Aiding Taylor's hits were C. Mclntyre, W. McGregor and D. Massey's 2-3 at bat. The Rec. Wreckers were allowed only four tits. Wednesday the Recreation Wreckers took out their revenge on he Hunt's Truckers, defeating Tunt's 14-6. S. Leach was 2-4 at >at scoring two runs for the Wreckers. Leading Hunts's Truck ers were A. Bratcher, C. Sappen ield and C. Kershaw each 2-3 at )at. In the second game the Patriots uffered a 5-6 decision to Hughes Texaco. It was a defensive battle to he end with good hitting perform ince by both teams. Leading the Jatriots' hitting was A.
