Stonewall Report
By: Cindy Lynn MiOer
Those of you who may notice that
the Stonewall Report is written by
Cindy Miller instead of Mrs. James O.
is due to her being in the bed with a
virus. She has been sick since Sunday
so I'm doing it this week.
Mrs. Helen Locklear relumed
home Wednesday from Womack
hospital. Mrs. Locklear was in the
hospital due to ear surgery. She
appreciated friends and neighbors
remembering her in their prayers and
inquiries.
Mr. and Mrs. Locklear are fairly
new residents of the Stonewall area.
They are the owners of the former
Brewer home in Dundarrach. Mrs.
Locklear mentioned how much the
Stonewall Report meant in helping
to aquaint her with our community.
( Her husband is soon to retire from
the military and they plan to
establish an Upholstery business in
Dundarrach, and make this their
permanent home.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Fail of
Statesboro Georgia spent the fourth
of July weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Buddy Butler. While here they along
with Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Butler
visited Mrs. Lula Butler at
Calvalescent nursing center in
Sanford Sunday.
Mrs. Connie Lewis and husband
Doug were weekend guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Jimmy Webb.
Mrs. Leta Yates of FayetteviUe
spent the weekend with Mrs. Lib
Tolar.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Irion Jr. and
children Wendy and John visited Mr.
and Mrs. James O. Miller and
children Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Jones and
children from Norfolk Virginia
visited Mrs. Willa Jones over the
weekend.
Mrs. Hazel Davis, Mrs. Catherine
McNeill and Mrs. Willa Jones visited
Mr. John Allen Jones Sunday.
Jantes 0. Miller and sons, Michael,
and Edward attended the dedication
of die New Hoke County Library
Sunday.
Mrs. O.B. Maxwell Sri returned
home recently from a visit with her
daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Hal
Gore and children in Chipley Florida.
She brought Hal Jr. and Mahala
home with her to visit until their
parents come up later this month.
Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Buie and
children from Raleigh were weekend
guests of Mrs. Maxwell.
The last of the Stonewall Report
for this week was written by my
mother last Friday.
Remember several weeks ago when
1 mentioned my husband referring to
me as Walter Cronkite? Well, my
name has now been changed. The
Cronkite has been deleted and the
term "crazy" inserted. 1 acquired this
unbelievable new nick-name, again
from my husband, over a period of
twenty-one hours between
Wednesday and Thursday of last
week. I still think "he's a dear," for
allowing me the chance to earn this
new title. It all started when I heard
Elvis Presley was coming to
Fayetteville. Thus after twenty-one
hours of waiting day and night my
daughter, Cindy, and 1 secured the
tickets! So Good Golly Miss Molly
we're going! What a mother won't go
through for her children! The
overnight virgil certainly made me
aware that I was no longer the same
teeny-bopper that twenty years ago
almost fainted at the name of
"Elvis." In fact while the youngsters
sat around in shorts listening to their
radios I sat with some other Moms
wrapped up in blankets to our chins,
teeth chattering and doing our best
to stay awake. Twenty years do
make a difference though. Come the
seventeenth 1 will be thirty-three
years old. This itself doesn't actually
sound too bad. For as the old
expression goes "you're only as old
as you feel." This is bad! Because
according to that rule 1 have to
acknowledge thirty-two going on
sixty. Never the less if I have
recuperated sufficient come August
the third, "Crazy" is going to join
the young ones for her first
opportunity to see Elvis in concert
