The opener went to Gentry's Tire Service 12-7 over Raeford Plumbing and Heating. For Gentry's. Bobby Baker smashed two home runs in the first and fifth innings. Henry Thompson was Gentry's leading batter, going 3-4. James Rainey was RPH's top batter with a 4-4 record. RPH gathered 15 team hits. The second and final game of the night was a victory for Rose's Aviation. 14-5 over Hoke Concrete. Rene Figioroa was Rose's leading batter, going 4-4. Rose's collected 17 total hits for success. Hoke Concrete gathered 10 hits and was led at bat by Cecil Campbell and Gary Mauney, both 2-3. The double elimination tourna ment began July 13 and will continue through July 16. Lessons will be given by certified Red Cross personnel and registrations will be on a "first come, first served" basis. Individuals may attend only one session. Sessions two and three will be held at 323 Magnolia St. in Raeford from 8 a.m. til 1 p.m. with individuals scheduled in classes. The fee per session per individual will be S2.00 and will be used for necessary supplies. Swimmers will come to the swimming classed by their own transportation for their scheduled time only. Ages for those two sessions are from 10 years old and up with one adult class per session. Session one will be the swimming camp at Smith Lake. Ft. Bragg. Swimmers will be transported by bus from the National Guard Armory, leaving Rae'ford at 8 a.m. and returning at 2 p.m. The fee per child is S2 and will be used for supplies. Crafts and games are provided when the child is not swimming. Applications will be available at Howell's Rexall Drug Co. and Hoke Drug Co. Youth League Lions Defeat Legion By Ann Howell In the makeup game last week in Youth League action, the Lions picked up a victory 11-9 over the American Legion. The Lions gathered 11 team hits and was led at the plate bv Glenn Cobb, who went 3-4. The Legion had a good lirst inning, pulling in five runs. K. Carpenter led the Legion at bat. going 3 - 4. The Hoke Jaycees didn't seem to be stale with a 32-2 decision over Rose's Aviation after five inning of play. B. Odom and K. Taylor got the only two hits for Rose's Avt.
