The Summer Institute of NCh'WC was held in Raeford at the Raeford Presbyterian Church. Area Incidents Couple Charged In Shooting: Two suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of a Rt. 1. Shannon man late last Wednesday afternoon on a rural road. Elizabeth Willis. 40. of Rt. 2. Raeford, and Percy English, 68. also of Rt. 2. Raeford. were picked up by deputies shortly after David T. Lovette. 48. was found wounded near the Twin Bridges area about 5:30 P.M. Wednesday. Lovette sustained a gunshot wound in a leg which is believed to have come from a . 16 guage shotgun, according to sheriff s deputies. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville where he was reported in stable condition. The two suspects were charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and each released under $500 bond pending an Aug. 6 District Court hearing. Authorities gave no motive for the shooting. In other incidents. Annie Goins. Rt. 1. Red Springs, complained her house was entered sometime last Monday and a black and white television worth $200 was taken. Fred McLean. Rt. 3. Raeford. reported a break - in at his home sometime Saturday night or Sun day morning. A hi - fi. tools, and an electric clock are listed as missing. The items are worth S150. according to a report filed. An air conditioning unit worth S133 was stolen in a break - in at West Hoke elementary school sometime last Thursday night. Young teens are suspected, but no arrests have been made yet. Entry was apparently made through a rear door, according to the report. Hubert Gates. Rt. I. Raeford. reported the theft of a .32 caliber pistol from his home sometime between July 9 - 18. The loss is listed at $50. An undetermined amount of money was stolen from a vending machine at Parks Grocery in McCain sometime July 20 or July 21. according to a report filed. Damage totaled S40. In the city. Lud Hales com plained to police Sunday about the theft of a 1972 Pontiac station wagon Saturday night. No value has been placed on the stolen property yet. Carol' O. Eady. Rt. 2. Box 280. reported the theft of her billfold from her shopping basket in the A A: P Saturday. The billfold had SI45 dollars in cash as well as her driver's license and other personal effects. No arrests have been made vet. The residence of John Lee Hines, 805 Saunders . was broken into Thursday. Intruders entered through a broken window on the north of the house. A telephone and 14 suits, valued at $250, were taken. Jimmy Carthens. lb, Rt. 1, Box 77 E. Red Springs, was charged with a safe movement violation after he hit the rear end of a vehicle driven by Robert Womack. 17. Rt. 1. Box 51 D, Red Springs. The accident occurred on Wooley St. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Edgar Thomas Buchanan. 28, 2223 Farmer St., Charlotte, was charged with a yield violation after striking a vehicle driven by An thony Wayne White. 310 W. Third. Raeford. The accident took place at 2:35 Saturday afternoon on E. Edinborough St. Joseph Herman Harrell. 68. Rt. 2. Box 3. Raeford. backed out of a parking lot on W. Prospect Sunday and hit a vehicle driven by Helen McNeill Matthews. 48. 171 La Verne Ln.. Kernersville. while she was stopped at a stop sign. No charges have been made.
