Today's families struggling to weather the economic storms some times feel like they are sailing against the wind. Americans will continue to have this feeling as long as they demand a high standard of living. There must be changes in life styles and we must learn to live with less. We must get use to a lower standard of living and we must dedicate ourselves to re cycling, greater use of public trans portation, reduced travel, smaller houses and cars, greater home production and conservation of food and household goods, more entertaining ourselves with crafts and games at home rather than movies or expensive televisions and stereo systems. We can be happy with less as long as we feel others are also doing without. What human beings want most is a sense of purpose and a sense of equity.
